Carnegie Mellon University’s College of Fine Arts is searching for an Assistant Stage Manager to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment.


As Assistant Stage Manager your duties will include preparing for and attending all rehearsals, assisting the Stage Manager with all duties, notes and communication as needed. Keep prop, costume and scenic tracking notes as

requested. May be needed to attend weekly production meetings. Must attend all technical rehearsals and performances, managing backstage operations and crew, and other duties as assigned.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Actual responsibilities will vary depending on job function. Functional areas could include audio, piano, print shop, etc.
  • Assist the stage manager in rehearsal prep.
  • Setup and teardown.
  • Work with Director on rehearsal schedule and daily rehearsal calls, communicating all to the student cast.
  • Keep prop, music, blocking, costume and scenic notes to be given to the production team.
  • Attend production meetings as able.
  • Leave collected info to pass on to the show Assistant Stage Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Mostly evening hours and Saturdays.
  • November 2 thru February 1. Off for winter break December 7 – January 8.
