8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (some flexibility may be required)

Primary Purpose:
Assists the Director of Corporate Safety and Safety department personnel by performing clinical laboratory support functions, including: laundering of lab coats, maintaining lab coat inventory, collection of regulated laboratory waste, and dispensing safety supplies and equipment. Assists in conducting annual chemical inventory in all technical departments. Assists with other projects as required.

Essential Functions:
Lab Coat Laundering
Collect soiled lab coats from hampers
Launder lab coats
Inspect for damage
Sort to appropriate racks
Distribute / transport to off-site locations
Waste management and chemical inventory
Transfer of full solvent waste containers to drums
Assist in preparing waste for transport
Assist in annual chemical inventory and associated documentation
Other duties as assigned.
Physical and Other Requirements:
Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
Mobility: The person in this position needs to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
Communicate: Frequently and effectively communicate with others.
PPE: Biohazard laboratory environment that requires use of personal protective equipment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company policies.
ARUP Policies and Procedures: To conduct self in compliance with all ARUP Policies and Procedures.
Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Fine Motor Control: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.
Vision: Having close, far, and peripheral visual acuity to perform a variety of tasks such as make general observations of depth and distance.
Color Vision: Perception of and ability to distinguish colors
Valid Utah Driver’s License: 1)No moving violations within the previous two years 2) No alcohol/drug-related violations on record with the Driver’s License Division
Age: Must be 21 years old
Must meet physical and health requirements of a ‘class 1’ respirator user
Must complete and maintain 24 hour hazardous waste and emergency response training certification

Skills Required
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Valid Utah Driver's License with no moving violations in previous two years and no alcohol/drug-related violations
- Must be 21 years old
- Meet physical and health requirements of a 'class 1' respirator user
- Complete and maintain 24-hour hazardous waste and emergency response training certification
- Training and experience in hazard communication, chemical waste management, or occupational safety
- Experience in safely handling hazardous chemicals
- Basic PC proficiency
