Performs a variety of clerical and clinical tasks assisting the Rehabilitation Services Care Teams in providing outstanding patient care and services.
Wound Care Technician – Specific Tasks
Patient & Clinic Flow
- Greet patients and families upon arrival and provide basic assistance as needed
- Notify therapists/providers when patients arrive
- Assist with rooming patients and preparing them for treatment
- Support patient positioning and comfort during wound care visits
- Monitor patient wait times and assist with flow as directed
Wound Care & Treatment Support
- Prepare wound care carts prior to treatments (supplies, PPE, dressings)
- Set up and break down treatment rooms for wound care visits
- Assist therapists and providers during wound care treatments within training and scope
- Support bedside wound care with therapists as assigned
- Assist with paging MDs, PAs, NPs, and Access Assistants when needed
- Coordinate patient transport using approved paging workflows
Cleaning, Safety & Infection Control
- Clean and reset rooms between patients following infection control standards
- Complete daily cleaning checklist and initial when complete
- Clean wound carts, modality carts, treatment surfaces, chairs, stools, and countertops
- Empty dirty linen bags and manage linens appropriately
- Check temperatures for paraffin, splint pan, hydrocollator, and cold packs
- Report broken or damaged equipment and submit work orders
Supply & Equipment Management
- Stock wound care and clinic supplies
- Take inventory of needed supplies and assist with ordering as directed
- Check medication and supply expiration dates (weekly/monthly tasks)
Administrative & Support Tasks
- Assist with faxing, copying, and organizing clinic materials
- Complete daily task lists and sign off when complete
- Assist with general clinic organization and support tasks as needed

- Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:
- Six months experience in a customer service job, or medical related experience in a hospital, rehab, or clinical setting.
- Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:
- NA
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must be able to work independently under the supervision of multiple rehabilitation professionals on recurring assignments.
- Should have critical thinking skills and be able to problem-solve.
- Strong verbal communication, customer relations, and listening skills are essential.
- Good telephone etiquette, money handling, and keyboarding skills are needed.
- Must be able to promote and maintain good customer relations and patient confidentiality.
- Must be able to effectively communicate in person and over the phone with a wide variety of patients (i.e., Those with speech and hearing impairments, those requiring interpreters)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that includes switching between tasks.
- Comfortable working with computers and learning new equipment and software as needed within the scope of the role.
