JOB SUMMARY

Our Assistant Project Manager will work out of our Northeast Business Unit, located in Harrisburg, PA. As the Assistant Project Manager, you are responsible for assisting the Project Executive and Project Manager(s) in taking overall responsibility for the Administration and Management of the project during the Preconstruction and Construction Phases. The Assistant Project Manager provides the necessary support to carry out requirement of the Construction Management agreement to ensure a successful project.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assistant Project Manager Essential Functions

  • Assist in the planning, scheduling, and coordination of construction projects.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, including contracts, drawings, specifications, and permits.
  • Assist in the procurement process, including obtaining bids, negotiating contracts, and issuing purchase orders.
  • Conduct regular site visits to inspect work quality, adherence to safety standards, and compliance with project plans and specifications.
  • Ensure various project management controls are in place by maintaining construction documents, managing receipt of drawings and sketches, and attending project meetings.
  • Organize, communicate and expedite incomplete tasks that need to be addressed by all project contacts. This includes tasks from meeting minutes, RFI logs, submittal logs, and change logs.
  • Maintain the master schedule and ensure regular and accurate communication to involved parties.
  • Transmit sketches and RFI’s to contractors for pricing, and communicate appropriate details to Owners, Architects, and SIQ employee’s for review and decision.
  • Review and process change orders in a timely manner, making sure costs are reconciled between appropriate contacts.
  • Develop a solid, personal relationship with clients based on understanding and trust, giving the owner(s) a feeling of confidence about our role on their project.
  • Monitor project progress and identify potential risks or delays, proposing solutions as needed.

Assistant Project Manager Additional Responsibilities

  • During project closeout, work with the project management team to complete punch-list items and assist with occupancy inspections.
  • Assist in the management of project budgets and expenses, tracking costs and identifying cost savings opportunities.
  • Communicate effectively with project team members, clients, and other stakeholders to provide updates, address concerns, and resolve issues.
  • Assist in the preparation of progress reports, presentations, and other project-related documentation as needed.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
  • Previous experience in the construction industry, preferable in a project management or assistant project management role.
  • Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Prior experience with Procore.
  • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and techniques.
  • Understanding of construction contracts, regulations, and safety standards.
  • A valid driver’s license is required for travel related to job duties. Access to a reliable vehicle may be necessary.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

This position is performed at active construction sites and requires frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold. The role involves walking on uneven ground, climbing ladders, and operating around heavy machinery. The noise level is typically loud, and the employee may be exposed to dust, debris, and hazardous materials. Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, gloves, safety vests, and steel-toed boots must be worn as required.

This role requires physical stamina, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand or walk for extended periods, and perform tasks that require bending, kneeling, and reaching. Work hours may include early mornings, late evenings, and occasional weekends depending on project timelines. Travel to various job sites within the Harrisburg Region is required.
