The CAMBA After-School Program at PS 212 is funded by the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) and other funders, to serve approximately 148 children and youth in grades K-5.  Children participate in program activities (such as homework help, conflict resolution, academic enrichment, recreation and creative arts programming) during after school hours and thirteen school holidays.

Position: Assistant Program Director

Reports To: Senior Program Manager 

Location: Compass PS 212

What Does a/the Assistant Program Director Do: 

  • Ensure the safety and security of each program participant by following all CAMBA after-school protocols and procedures including but not limited to procedures and protocols regarding safety, supervision, accident and incident reporting. 
  • Manage the after-school office daily during after-school program hours. 
  • Monitor, collect, and compile daily and monthly attendance records of targeted participants. 
  • Complete daily walk-throughs. 
  • Input all client attendance data into database(s) on a daily basis. 
  • Keep accurate records on absenteeism and results from counseling and referrals. 
  • Follow up and report to participants' parent(s) attendance via telephone calls.  
  • As needed order, receive, and maintain program supplies. 
  • Maintain participant’s files. 
  • Work with Afterschool Program Director to coordinate Parent workshops regarding CAMBA’s workshops and services. 
  • Maintain daily attendance logs for all activities. 
  • Assists with program’s arrival and dismissal protocols. Including early and late pick-ups.  
  • Operates program in the absence of the Director. 
  • Partner with the Site Director to maintain program ratios at all times. 
  • Covers group when needed to maintain program ratios. 
  • Assist Afterschool Program Director with planning and conducting staff training. 
  • Encourage parents to be active participants in their school’s community. 
  • Advise parents on the importance of child(ren)'s regular school attendance during individual parent conferences. 
  • Act as liaison with agency and school administration and teaching staff, and may attend Building Response Team meetings. 
  • Will work with Afterschool Program Director and school administrative staff to identify students to be served by the program. 
  • Will perform computer data entry/verification functions. 
  • Assist with program relocations when necessary.  
  • Required to work 13 Holiday Camp days 

What are the Qualifications for the Position: 

Education, Licenses and/or Certifications Required: 

  • Some college credits, current undergraduate student or a Bachelor's degree. 

Minimum Experiences and Skills Required:  

  • Minimum 1-year experience working with children in a group setting. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bilingual in English and another language preferred. 

Compensation: $28.00- $30.00 hourly
When salary ranges are listed, the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and candidate. This includes but is not limited to experience, education, budget and/or program size, internal equity, skills and other factors that may be required for the position and organization.

Status: -Full-time (35 hours per week)
