Job Description

As an Assistant Professor in our RN-BSN Program, you will play a vital role in empowering registered nurses to advance their education, elevate their practice, and make a lasting impact on the patients and communities they serve.

This is an opportunity for a passionate nurse educator and scholar to engage students in meaningful learning experiences across online, classroom, clinical, laboratory, and simulation environments. You'll mentor future nursing leaders, contribute to curriculum innovation, support student success, and help shape the future of nursing education.

What You'll Do

As an Assistant Professor, you will engage students through innovative teaching strategies while creating an inclusive, supportive, and student-centered learning environment.

Academic Excellence & Teaching

  • Teach undergraduate nursing courses in classroom, online, clinical, lab, and simulation settings.
  • Create engaging learning experiences using educational technology, evidence-based teaching practices, and emerging AI tools.
  • Implement and contribute to curriculum development, course design, and instructional materials.
  • Foster meaningful student relationships and provide individualized support to promote academic success.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback and remediation when needed.
  • Connect nursing theory to professional practice, helping students develop safe, ethical, and evidence-based clinical decision-making skills.

Student Mentorship & Success

  • Serve as a mentor and academic guide for students throughout their educational journey.
  • Recognize and respond to student needs with empathy, professionalism, and a commitment to student achievement.
  • Partner with colleagues to identify solutions that remove barriers to learning and improve student outcomes.

Leadership & Service

  • Contribute to university initiatives through committee participation, program evaluation, accreditation preparation, and graduation activities.
  • Serve as a course lead, subject matter expert, or coordinator when assigned.
  • Collaborate with faculty, academic leadership, clinical partners, and support teams to drive program excellence.
  • Support and mentor new faculty members while contributing to a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

Scholarship & Professional Development

  • Engage in scholarly activities that advance nursing education and practice.
  • Participate in research, presentations, publications, and dissemination of evidence-based knowledge.
  • Maintain expertise in nursing practice, teaching methodologies, healthcare trends, and emerging technologies.
  • Demonstrate scholarly teaching through continuous reflection, peer collaboration, and evidence-based instructional practices.

In this role, you will:

  • Help students achieve strong academic and program outcomes.
  • Foster high levels of student engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
  • Deliver timely, meaningful feedback that supports learning and growth.
  • Maintain compliance with accreditation, licensure, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Nursing
  • Minimum of 2 years of full-time teaching experience at the instructor level or higher.
  • Minimum of 2 years of direct patient care experience in the clinical specialty or content area being taught.
  • Active, unencumbered nursing licensure and/or applicable professional certifications as required.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong technology skills, including experience with learning management systems, virtual learning platforms, and educational technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to create engaging learning environments and effectively manage challenging situations.
  • Emotional intelligence and a student-centered approach to teaching and mentoring.

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $80,000 and $110,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
