Job Description:

The Psychology Department at Rhodes College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Clinical/Counseling or Developmental Psychology, to begin Fall 2027.  Specialization within one of these areas is open, with particular interest in candidates whose work bridges lifespan development and clinical/counseling perspectives. Area of research is open and may include, but is not limited to, social and emotional development, family and peer relationships, mental health and well-being, stress and resilience, developmental psychopathology, prevention and intervention, health disparities, and contextual influences on development and well-being. Teaching responsibilities will include five courses per year and will consist of a combination of introductory and upper-level courses in the candidate’s area of expertise. Collaborative research and teaching opportunities exist across several interdisciplinary programs at Rhodes, including Africana Studies, Latin American and Latinx Studies, Educational Studies, Data Analytics, Gender and Sexuality Studies, Health Equity, or Urban Studies. The successful candidate must demonstrate a firm commitment to teaching and research at a liberal arts college. Research will be supported by start-up funds, annual travel funds, lab space and there are possibilities for additional research support including summer research funds. In addition, opportunities for collaborative research are available through our partnerships with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, University of Memphis, University of Tennessee Medical School, and Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. Candidates must have completed all requirements for a Ph.D. in an appropriate subdiscipline of psychology by July 2027.
