The department is interested in candidates who can co-lead the existing undergraduate GIS and remote sensing certificate.

Candidates with prior teaching experience and a broad background in geospatial sciences are invited to apply. We especially encourage applications from candidates with hands-on teaching experience in GIS, remote sensing, geography, or a related field. The successful candidate will join a team of faculty with expertise in applied meteorology, uncrewed aircraft systems, air traffic management, and geography, and will be expected to teach the equivalent of four 3-credit hour courses per semester at the undergraduate level.

The candidate will mentor undergraduate research projects. Current research interests within the department include the North American Monsoon, optical/microwave satellite and airborne remote sensing and terrestrial LiDAR applications with uncrewed aircraft. The curriculum for the GIS and remote sensing certificate is currently part of the UAS degree program and published at https://erau.edu/degrees/bachelor/unmanned-aircraft-systems#pc-campus.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate ability to teach and develop hands-on GIS and remote sensing laboratory courses using state-of-the-art GIS software. The successful candidate must be able to inspire students from different programs such as uncrewed aircraft systems, applied meteorology, biology and the global security and intelligence community.

Candidates that have a commitment to increasing representation, inclusion, and diversity are enthusiastically invited to apply.

This is a nine-month position with the possibility of summer teaching and/or externally funded research for additional pay.

Application material should include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a statement of professional goals, teaching philosophy, and contact information for three professional references. Materials may be submitted in electronic form through careers.erau.edu. Screening of applications will start upon receipt and will continue until the position is filled.
