The Assistant Professor of Cybersecurity is a full-time non-tenured faculty position requiring a strong educational background specifically in more than one area of Cybersecurity. The Assistant Professor of Cybersecurity shall primary responsibility for supporting the Department of Computer Science, Math, and Technology in maximizing the University’s operating performance while achieving institutional goals and objectives. This is a faculty position requiring a strong academic background specifically in Cybersecurity, Information Systems Security or Information Technology Security. This key position shall report to the Chair of the Computer Science, Mathematics & Technology Division.
Essential Functions
- Faculty will offer both introductory and advanced courses directly related to scheduled instruction, including lecture, laboratory, clinical, performance and coaching assignments; preparation for instruction, and student assessment activities.
- Faculty must develop and utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines.
- Candidates will also be accountable for collaborative and applied research in various disciplines, including assistance with grant applications and data analysis on funded grants.
- Perform teaching, scholarship, service, professional development, and program assessment for accreditation. Advise students for both academic and career fields.
- Other qualifications include: cultural competency to work with diverse student and/or staff population.
- A thorough understanding of technology, learning management systems, and computer applications is essential (i.e. Blackboard, Canvas, Powercampus, Jenzabar, LinkedIn Learning).
- Teach cybersecurity, computer science, and information systems courses.
- Coordinate cybersecurity program as specified by NSA: CAE-CD PoS Validation.
- Manage community education, participation, development, involvement in Cybersecurity activities.
- Perform teaching, scholarship, service, and professional development.
- Perform course and program assessment for ABET accreditation.
- Work collaboratively with the other faculty to advance the department academic programs.
- Actively engage in faculty-student research supported through external grants.
- Advise students in both academic and career fields.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or deemed appropriate to the accomplishments of the responsibilities and functions of the Computer Science, Mathematics & Technology Division.
- The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that logically relate to the position.

- Physical ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Moderate physical activity requires handling objects of average-weight up to fifty (50) pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
Minimum Requirements
- An earned Ph.D. and 18 graduate credit hours in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related IT fields and with preferred experience in NSA: CAE-CD PoS validation institution and ABET accreditation process.
- Strong research background in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or related IT fields
- The ability to provide quality instruction in the Cybersecurity.
- The potential for peer reviewed research, scholarly and/or creative accomplishment by
- representing the University in Cybersecurity.
- The potential to have a positive impact through service that represents the University on
- campus and within the greater community.
- Experience teaching in higher education.
- Familiarity with Jenzabar technology suite for higher education.
- Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule that may include working nights and weekends (if applicable).

Skills Required

- Preferred experience at an NSA CAE-CD PoS validated institution and familiarity with ABET accreditation processes
- Ability to engage in grant-supported faculty-student research and assist with grant applications/data analysis
- Willingness to maintain a flexible work schedule (may include nights and weekends) and pass a criminal background check
