This position exists for the purpose of teaching undergraduate level courses in mathematics and assisting the Chair in overseeing the curriculum and adjuncts who teach mathematics.

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of MA in Mathematics or Education with advanced credits in mathematics. A doctoral degree is preferred for this position.

  • A minimum of 2 years of higher-educational teaching experience.

  • Designing and developing relevant courses.

  • A well-articulated biblical worldview.

  • A well-articulated philosophy of education.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • An ability to teach a wide range of remedial, developmental and college mathematics courses in diverse modalities.

  • A high degree of professionalism while motivating and educating students in an engaging manner to help them understand the ways in which mathematics applies to the shaping of their thought processes, their future careers, and their biblical worldview.

  • Use of technology in instruction.

  • Proficiency as a communicator in written and oral formats.

  • An ability to work with colleagues on institutional projects.

  • Capability of leading adjuncts both by example and through casting a vision for teaching writing at Lancaster Bible College | Capital Seminary and Graduate School.

  • An ability to design instruction.

  • An ability to develop new courses.

  • A desire to mentor students outside the classroom.

  • Proficiency with word processing, general computer skills, and LBC | Capital’s instructional technologies (i.e., Learning Management System, Video Conferencing, etc.).


Duties/Responsibilities:

General

  • Required full-time teaching load is 4/4 with a 3-credit release in each semester for administrative oversight of mathematics instructors and the assessment of math courses and curricular offerings.

  • Attend Chapel.

  • Attend College and Arts & Sciences department meetings.

  • Hold weekly office hours for student and faculty consultation and support during fall and spring semesters.

  • Teach courses as assigned at the undergraduate, adult education, and/or graduate level in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats which may require teaching during the day, evening, and/or weekend.

  • Participate on assigned faculty committee(s).

  • Participate in ongoing professional development and LBC | Capital professional development.

Curriculum

  • Coordinate the development, assessment, and revisions of Academic Program(s)/discipline and courses.

  • Design and develop new courses to enhance the existing curriculum.

  • Review and revise curricular offerings to meet accreditation and industry expectations and standards.

  • Submit annual assessment and program review to Chair.

  • Submit at least one assessment annotation per semester for a course taught.

Personnel

  • Cooperate with the Chair to recruit, schedule, observe, and support adjuncts in discipline.

  • Submit recommendations to hire FT and PT faculty to Chair.

  • Review course syllabi of discipline/program faculty.

  • Observe and evaluate adjunct department faculty in the corresponding discipline(s) and submit observations reports to department .

Enrollment and Retention

  • Determine course placement for incoming students, as needed.

  • Approve transfer credits/exceptions to requirements for core/program completion.

Administrative Oversight

  • Submit undergraduate final grade-standing reports for remedial math tracks (060) to the Registrar for schedule changes.

  • Coordinate MAT course planning by rostering classes and assigning instructors.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

                                               


Qualifications

Skills Required

  • MA in Mathematics or Education with advanced credits in mathematics
  • 2 years of higher-educational teaching experience
  • Ability to teach a wide range of college mathematics courses
  • Proficiency in technology use for instruction
  • Desire to mentor students outside the classroom
  • Ability to design and develop new courses
  • Doctoral degree preferred
