This position is required to teach in-person, on-site at the Kilgore or Longview Texas campus.
Position summary:
This is a 9-month faculty position within the Business & Information Technology Department. A full load consists of 15 contact hours, and 10 office hours. Expectations for this position include teaching courses related to computer and information technology during daytime or evening hours on the Kilgore or Longview campus, teaching at off-campus dual credit sites, and/or teaching online. It is expected that all instructors participate in committee work, professional development activities, student recruitment and retention activities, and record keeping. Additional expectations, policies, and guidance for faculty performance of their duties are available in the Kilgore College Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual and the Faculty Handbook.
Position responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and facilitate the instructional process relating to Computer and Information Technology curriculum covering subjects such as computer programming(Python, C++, HTML/CSS, JavaScript), office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint), database (SQL), IT administration, security, and/or project management.
- Work closely with other faculty and advisory committees to ensure that course offerings and degree plans remain relevant to the community.
- Keep abreast of developments in the discipline and in instructional methodology.
- Support and participate in appropriate professional development programs and activities.
- Support and adhere to the academic policies and procedures of the college, the division, and the department.
- Interpret college policies for students in a positive manner.
- Develop, maintain, and follow syllabi for courses.
- Participate with appropriate administration in the development of guidelines for classroom management.
- Participate in advising, registration, and graduation as needed.
- Communicate with the appropriate chair and/or dean as to the need for instructional materials, equipment, and professional development.
- Maintain a harmonious and collegial relationship with other members of the faculty and staff.
- Maintain professional conduct and appearance.
- Administer student appraisals of courses in compliance with college policy.
- Attend necessary conferences and seminars to remain current in the field.
- Represent Kilgore College through involvement in college and community activities.
- Serve on various departmental, divisional, and/or college committees.
- All full-time faculty are required to complete online course certification through the KC
- Faculty Innovation Center within their first year of employment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Position Requirements:
- Master’s degree including 18 hours of graduate level computer science, programming, or information technology courses.
- Preference may be given to applicants with related work experience and previous teaching experience.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficient in the use of technology, well-organized and thorough, able to work well with little supervision, and a commitment to excellence in teaching.
- Ability to interact in a courteous and professional manner with a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office and classroom environment.
- No or very limited physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
- No or very limited exposure to physical risk.

- Compensation for this 9-month position is based on years of teaching at institutions of higher education, and highest level of education. Base pay for no experience ranges from $44,736 for an Master's degree to $51,894 for a doctorate. Overload and summer classes are paid separately.
Kilgore College does not participate in the federal Social Security program.
