Job Description

Brief Description – Tenure-Track or Non-Tenure Track Assistant Professor to teach introductory and higher-level undergraduate air traffic management courses in our B.S. Air Traffic Management degree program.

Detailed Description – The Daytona Beach ERAU Air Traffic Management program offers a B.S. in Air Traffic Management.  The position requires a candidate with air traffic control experience who will be teaching a variety of air traffic control courses, ranging from an introductory survey course of air traffic basics to more specialized terminal radar, enroute radar/non-radar, and VFR control tower courses (depending on experience).

The position includes a mix of teaching, research, and service obligations.  Basic teaching requirements are 12 undergraduate credit hours per semester.   Faculty may replace some teaching credit hours with equivalent funded research.

The candidate must possess effective oral and written communications skills, including the ability to relate theory to application through experiential learning. The candidate is expected to develop new course materials and to teach previously developed courses.  Service duties may include student mentoring, curriculum evaluation, committee participation, outreach, and project leadership.  The candidate is expected to pursue scholarly activities with the possibility of workload reassignment for funded research, and to participate in individual and group research projects involving students.  This is a nine-month position, renewed annually, with the possibility of additional pay for summer teaching (if desired) and funded research.

Qualifications

Ph. D. or Ed.D. (tenure track) or master’s degree (non-tenure-track only) with extensive air traffic control experience in terminal radar, enroute radar, or VFR tower fields (required).  Two or more years’ experience in higher education (desired) or FAA training (highly desired).

The position and contract are expected to begin in August 2024.
