Position Summary

The Assistant Principal for Curriculum, Instruction, and Student Discipline at Mother Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School serves as a key member of the school’s leadership team, supporting the Principal in fostering a faith-filled, academically excellent environment. This role is responsible for advancing curriculum and instructional practices, supporting teacher growth, and ensuring a safe, respectful, and orderly school climate grounded in Catholic values.

Primary Responsibilities

Catholic Identity & Mission

  • Uphold and promote the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church in all aspects of school life
  • Support the integration of faith across the curriculum and school culture
  • Model Gospel values in word and action

Curriculum & Instruction

  • Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of a rigorous, standards-based curriculum
  • Ensure vertical and horizontal alignment across grade levels (K–8)
  • Support teachers in the effective use of instructional best practices and differentiation
  • Facilitate data-driven instruction through analysis of assessments and student performance
  • Coordinate curriculum review cycles and instructional initiatives
  • Stay current on educational trends and integrate innovative practices

Faculty Support & Professional Growth

  • Support teacher supervision, evaluation, and coaching in collaboration with the Principal
  • Provide ongoing feedback to improve instructional effectiveness
  • Plan and lead professional development aligned with school goals
  • Mentor new teachers and support continuous growth for all faculty

Student Discipline & School Climate

  • Oversee student discipline in alignment with school policies and Catholic values
  • Promote restorative practices that emphasize accountability, reconciliation, and growth
  • Maintain a positive, respectful, and safe school environment
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and staff to address behavioral concerns
  • Track and analyze discipline data to improve school-wide practices

Operations & Leadership

  • Assist in the daily operation of the school, including supervision, scheduling, and special events
  • Support accreditation processes and school improvement planning
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and families to support student success
  • Serve as acting principal in the absence of the Principal

Qualifications

  • Practicing Catholic committed to the mission of Catholic education
  • Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field
  • Valid state certification in Educational Leadership/Administration
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of successful teaching experience (K–8 preferred)
  • Demonstrated leadership in curriculum development and instructional coaching
  • Strong background in student discipline and behavior management
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with data analysis and instructional technology integration
  • Familiarity with accreditation processes and school improvement planning
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a Level 2 background screening and safe environment training (as required by diocesan policy)

Skills Required

  • Practicing Catholic committed to the mission of Catholic education
  • Master's degree in Educational Leadership, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field
  • Valid state certification in Educational Leadership/Administration
