GENERAL OBJECTIVES:
The Assistant to the President for Advancement serves as the President’s principal staff support for donor engagement and advancement strategy. Working within the Office of the President, this position manages the President’s donor portfolio through prospect research, individualized strategies, meeting coordination, correspondence, follow-up, and stewardship. The position also manages an assigned portfolio of qualified donors and prospects and coordinates closely with the Vice President for Advancement and the Chief of Staff to advance DBU’s mission and philanthropic priorities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage an assigned portfolio of qualified donors and prospects using a moves-management approach, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and timely documentation in Blackbaud FPM.
- Maintain a working knowledge of DBU’s strategic priorities, programs, financial needs, and approved philanthropic opportunities in order to connect donor interests with the University’s mission and objectives.
- Serve as a DBU representative at selected donor-facing, University, community, church, alumni, and off-campus events, including periodic travel and evening or weekend responsibilities.
- Manage the President’s donor portfolio by developing and maintaining an individualized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategy for each assigned donor and prospect in coordination with the President, Vice President for Advancement, and Chief of Staff.
- Research and qualify individuals, families, family offices, foundations, and business leaders in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and across the nation who possess significant philanthropic capacity and potential affinity for DBU’s Christian mission.
- Prepare the President for donor meetings and visits by developing briefings, giving histories, talking points, engagement objectives, and recommended next steps.
- Schedule and coordinate the President’s donor meetings, campus visits, cultivation trips, and other advancement engagements, including appropriate participants, materials, and logistics, and accompany the President as requested.
- Draft personalized correspondence, acknowledgments, proposals, and follow-up communications for the President; track commitments and action items; and ensure timely completion of next steps.
- Maintain complete and timely records in Blackbaud Fundraiser Performance Management (FPM) of the President’s donor activity and monitor the President’s pipeline to ensure consistent progress and follow-through.
- Manage donor services for the President’s portfolio with appropriate Advancement personnel, including campus visits, stewardship, recognition, hospitality, and appropriate special requests.
- Attend Advancement Office and gift officer meetings to coordinate donor strategies, share relevant information, and avoid duplication of effort.
- Represent the President’s Office in planning meetings for the DBU Leadership Gala, Women’s Auxiliary Board events, and other designated advancement activities.
- Exercise sound judgment and maintain strict confidentiality when representing the President, communicating and coordinating on the President’s behalf.
- Adhere to University gift-acceptance policies, prospect-management procedures, and the highest ethical standards for fundraising; remain apprised of current fundraising practices and tools; and perform other duties as assigned by the President.
WORK SCHEDULE:
This position is based on campus in the President’s Office, with regular hours from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Occasional evening or weekend responsibilities outside of the regular workweek will be required.
WORK LOCATION:
This position will work on the main campus, located at 3000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211
Preferred Qualifications- Must be a Christian who is a member of a church that holds Jesus Christ to be their Savior and Lord, and who holds solely the Old Testament and the New Testament as sacred Scriptures.
