Meyer Utility Structures is currently looking to hire an Assistant Plant Manager for our plant operation located in Clinton, IL. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Assistant Plant Manager will support the facility through operations management in production scheduling, outsourcing, capacity utilization, material fabrication and welding processes. This position will lead and direct production scheduling, production, production inventories, shipping and receiving and will indirectly support other functional leaders in Safety, Quality, Continuous Improvement, Maintenance and work closely with Finance and Human Resources.

What You’ll Do:
- Lead department managers in scheduling, shipping, fabrication and welding operations
- Exhibit a strong work ethic focusing on safety, quality, delivery, and productivity through the application of lean manufacturing principles
- Make decisions guided by policies, procedures, and strategic business plans
- Exercise independent judgment successfully
- Lead the development and sustainment of a safe workplace culture, and ensure the safety of all team members
- Understand and apply Meyer Quality standards to ensure compliance while supporting the implementation of Quality at the Source initiatives and reducing the cost of poor quality (COPQ) drivers
- Manage the production schedule process to ensure a smooth and efficient production process by removing obstacles and identifying, developing, sourcing, and applying resources necessary to meet delivery dates set by the master production schedule
- Manage and lead the receiving and shipping department to ensure materials are readily available for production start dates and finished goods are delivered to follow on processes and customers with high quality on time
- Manage and lead daily production activities in material fabrication, fitting, welding, and finishing by identifying, developing, sourcing, and applying resources necessary to meet production targets.
- Prioritize the necessary resources and define the tactical steps required to accomplish goals on time and ensure completion
- Set clear and consistent expectations for performance, hold teams-accountable, and develop leadership skills amongst team members
- Coordinate and supervise the daily activities of departmental performance across all shifts
- Special projects and other duties as assigned
What You’ll Need:
- 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing management role, preferably as an Operations Manager, Production Manager or Assistant Plant Manager
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Ability to relocate in the future
- Ability to work in a varied outdoor environment (cold, hot, dry, dusty, rainy)
- Experience in an industrial steel manufacturing plant with preference given to experience in an engineer-to-order fabrication shop
- Experience in a LEAN manufacturing organization required
- Ability to apply quality control and manufacturing best practices for customer specification, code and regulatory & testing requirements
- Microsoft Office Suite experience and proficiency with Excel is a must
- Written and verbal communication with the specific ability to communicate and interface with peers and customers is necessary
- Strong analytical, organizational, decision-making abilities
- Flexibility to be available after hours, weekends and holidays as needed to support operations

- Salary commensurate with experience – $120,000 - $145,000
