The Department of Social Sciences at Claflin University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. We welcome applicants from all areas of psychology.

The successful candidates will:

  • Teach undergraduate courses across the psychology curriculum, including introductory, research methods/statistics, and advanced courses in their area of expertise.
  • Develop and teach specialized courses related to forensic psychology, criminal behavior, substance use, or rehabilitation (depending on area of expertise).
  • Mentor psychology majors.
  • Engage in an active program of research and scholarship, with opportunities for student collaboration.
  • Seek external funding to support research and program development.
  • Contribute to departmental growth, including efforts toward the development of graduate programs in psychology.
  • Provide service to the department, university, and profession.

Opportunities for online teaching and interdisciplinary collaboration are available.

Qualifications
  • PhD in Psychology (ABD considered, with expected completion by August 2026).
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching at the college/university level.
  • Strong record (or potential) of scholarly productivity.
  • Commitment to student-centered learning, mentoring, and community engagement.
  • All specializations are encouraged to apply;
  • Experience with teaching and retention of varied student populations.
  • Knowledge about using AI and or modern technologies in psychology
  • Experience with innovative and engaging teaching strategies that will focus on the needs of 21 century students

 

 

Skills Required
