Power Fashion is looking for an Assistant Finance Manager
The Purpose of this Assistant Finance Manager role is to assist with the day-to-day functioning & management of the finance team resulting in timely and accurate monthly, half-year & year-end financial results, ensuring strong financial controls and compliance with relevant policies and regulations
Reporting
- Assist in compilation and submission of reports weekly, monthly, at half year and year-end and annually (e.g. Group financial reporting pack - GMB, PF management report, board pack, half year & year-end financial packs, annual budget packs, 5 year financial model, RLC, general ledger, trial balance etc.).
- Review and reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure accounting records are accurate and complete
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations
Internal / External Audit
- Ensure that the finance team complies with all internal / external audit requirements. This includes preparing working papers at half year & year-end as well as attending any necessary meetings.
- Maintain and strengthen internal financial controls and procedures
Laise with internal and external audit and provide requested information
Payments
Approve and release payments in order to ensure all invoices are paid timeously. This includes suppliers, monthly salaries, monthly & annual incentives, ad hoc payments.
Analysis
- Use business insights and provide sales & cost centre analysis against budget & forecast in order to provide feedback & / or recommendations
General administration
- Effective control of all costs, cashflow management and other finance efficiencies (e.g. monthly forecasting, credit card expenditure, annual insurance renewals & vehicle fleet costs) in order to maintain the businesses general administration. Submission of VAT & Tax returns for foreign entities.
- Update the monthly financial model by country including income statement, balance sheet & cashflow including sign off of monthly balance sheet and general ledger.
- Processing of month end journals.
- Assist the Financial Manager in managing and developing the finance team
- Review work performed by finance team members and provide guidance where required
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and efficiencies
- Assist with financial projects, system improvements and ad hoc analysis
Qualifications
- CIMA or CA (SA)
- 2+ years of post-articles/ financial accounting experience
- Retail experience is essential
- Experience with Accounting, Financial planning and budgeting, Process knowledge, People management, Advanced MS Office, and Analytical ability
