Assistant Enterprise Infrastructure Engineer

Role Value Proposition:
Junior-level infrastructure technology engineer who possesses hands-on experience assisting with diverse virtualized technologies, including but not limited to Distributed Servers, Enterprise Servers, Storage subsystems and operating systems life cycle, patch management network configuration automation. Collaborate with Engineering, Application Development, and other departments in supporting our complex IT environments and improving the reliability of products and services. Working knowledge of applications running on various platforms, physical and virtual environments, various cloud providers, VMware, Operating systems, Network devices, Storage devices, and Database servers.
This position supports critical business activity in a 24/7 Application Infrastructure Platforms and Services department. We are looking for an individual who can use critical thinking, collaborate across teams, and have an automation mindset to improve the reliability, availability, and performance of our infrastructure and applications.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assists in the planning, forecasting, architecture, implementation, and identification of resource requirements for systems of low to moderate complexity.
• Assists in identifying and resolving enterprise, storage, and problems (Tier 3 support) utilizing structured troubleshooting tools and techniques. Interfaces with vendors on complex systems problems.
• Assists in the deployment of virtualization technologies.
• Assists in the documentation of technical standards and interfaces.
• Analysis and implement job scheduling and system life cycle patch management tools.
• Identifying opportunities to build innovative tools and solve unique operations problems.
• Assists in maintaining and managing the hardware or software infrastructure using various engineering tools.
• Assists the Capacity Management team in understanding enterprise hardware trends to ensure that business and customer expectations are maintained and exceeded.
• Assists in building partnerships with project teams and works closely with internal and external customers and vendors.
• Enjoy working with a large variety of services and technologies.
• Familiar with change management concepts.
• Creates change tickets on the ServiceNow Change Management System.
• Assist the disaster and recovery team as needed.
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required experience:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline or equivalent work experience required.
• 1-3 years of experience in network design, installation, and maintenance of software systems, network and operating systems, or storage management.
• Self-motivated with the desire and ability to explore and understand difficult concepts inside large architectures with the aptitude to be a good team player and the willingness to learn.
• Working knowledge of network hardware and software, infrastructure and design, topologies, and protocols.
• Good analytical and documentation skills.
• Good teamwork and communication skills, both verbal and in writing.
• Ability to foster strong partnerships with business customers, peer groups, and vendors.
• Strong customer service focus.
• Good problem-solving skills
• Ability to dive into unfamiliar code and root cause problems- a strong object-oriented design and programming background using all the latest technologies is a must.
Preferred Experience:
• Background identifying and driving opportunities to improve automation.
• Scale systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation and evolve systems by pushing for changes that improve reliability and velocity.
• Understand SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS deployment models.
• Understanding of DevOps Culture or SRE
• Relevant industry certifications
