Elena’s Way, a Preble Street Wellness Shelter, provides shelter and intensive services to up to 40 individuals experiencing homelessness and complex physical and mental health needs in a 24-hour trauma-informed environment grounded in social work and medical best practices.

As a member of the Elena’s Way Management Team, the Assistant Director supports the Director and provides management and leadership to Elena’s Way, ensuring the provision of high-quality services in alignment with the agency mission.

The scope of the Assistant Director’s management and leadership responsibilities includes program administration and implementation, quality of care, staff supervision and support, and ensuring the safety of clients and staff within Elena’s Way. The Assistant Director provides comprehensive, substantial support to the Program Director in all aspects of program management, including program development and evaluation, resource and systems development, assessment of clients, administration of MaineCare billed services, community relations, and grants management.

Population Served: Individuals who are currently experiencing unsheltered homelessness or are otherwise assessed as extremely vulnerable with complex mental health, substance use-related, and physical health needs.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm

Qualifications

Qualifications for the Assistant Director include at least three years of relevant experience in nonprofit social services management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred qualifications include licensure or certification permitting the provision of mental health diagnoses under MaineCare rules and regulations, such as LCSW, LMSW-cc, LCPC, or LCPC-c.

Additional requirements include; program management experience; strong administrative and systems management skills, ability to recognize, utilize, optimize, and address program and/or organizational strengths, weakness, opportunities, and threats, an understanding of and alignment with Preble Street’s mission; and commitment to providing low-barrier, high-quality services to people experiencing homelessness.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time, exempt (salaried) position offering a competitive pay of $68,000 annually and robust benefits, including:

  • 160 hours vacation time, 96 hours sick time, 32 hours personal time (accrued), 12 Paid Holidays
  • Health insurance w/ 100% employer-paid option; Dental insurance w/ 100% employer-paid option; Vision insurance; Employer-paid Life, STD, and LTD insurance and voluntary, supplemental options.
  • 403(b) retirement plan w/ employer match
