JOB DESCRIPTION:

Job Summary

The Assistant Director, School Based Services assists the Director in leading the School Based Services department. This role supervises staff to ensure individual and program requirements are met, identifies training needs, and ensures procedures and policies are followed appropriately.

Essential Job Functions
  • Functions in accordance with the system’s Operational Guidelines and within their professional code of ethics.
  • Provides individual, group, family, and/or other practical counseling services utilizing professional experience and clinical judgment to meet client needs and treatment goals, as directed by supervisor.
  • Presents educational materials in public forums, within the limits of experience, educational background, and organizational commitments, to promote community understanding of mental health and enhance community response to mental health concerns.
  • Maintains a limited caseload, with size and scope established in collaboration with supervisory staff.
  • Participates in client staffing to identify problems and establish treatment goals and objectives in accordance with system guidelines.
  • Assumes case management responsibilities for assigned clients.
  • Participates in emergency services to provide rapid response in cases of emotional crisis.
  • Provides and/or coordinates comprehensive follow-up services for assigned clients.
  • Participates in and contributes to staff development activities.
  • Supports management needs including data collection, program evaluation, grant development, and contract maintenance.
  • Participates in all required meetings.
  • Regularly participates in evaluation processes for self and assigned staff according to Operational Guidelines.
  • Supports all Quality Assurance procedures, utilization review processes, and Clinical Records Department regulations.
  • Performs additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Specific Responsibilities
  • Supervise supervisors within the School-Based Services Department.
  • May supervise School-Based Support Specialists or Clinicians as needed.
  • Oversee productivity expectations for assigned providers and teams.
  • Monitor program requirements and chart deficiencies.
  • Provide ongoing training, coaching, and staff development.
  • Support HR-related processes including interviewing, counseling, discipline, and leave management.
  • Identify training needs and develop training initiatives for the department.
  • Implement trainings in partnership with the Education & Training Coordinator.
  • May provide licensure supervision for up to three PLPC and/or LMSW employees if eligible under agency and state guidelines.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with residents, employees, family members, and community stakeholders.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply logic and understanding to carry out written, oral, or diagram-based instructions.
  • Ability to solve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Experience and Education Qualifications
  • Must possess a Missouri state license as one of the following:
    • Psychologist
    • LCSW
    • LPC
    • PLCSW
    • PLPC
  • Doctoral degree or Master’s degree in mental health or a related field with experience working with youth and families.
  • Extensive knowledge of:
    • Crisis intervention
    • Communication skills
    • Family education methods
    • Child/adolescent observation and assessment
    • Child/adolescent treatment planning
    • Family therapy systems
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal/external service providers and families.
Supervisory Requirements
  • Communicate organizational strategic direction and encourage team participation.
  • Provide leadership and guidance across departmental functions.
  • Support development and execution of strategic objectives.
  • Involve team members appropriately to achieve goals.
  • Communicate departmental and organizational updates effectively.
  • Champion organizational change and implementation of new initiatives.
  • Address difficult employee situations directly and appropriately with HR partnership.
  • Reinforce a collaborative team environment and encourage input from all levels.
Employment Requirements
  • Successful completion of background checks including:
    • Criminal record
    • Driving record
    • Abuse/neglect
    • Fingerprint screening
  • Completion of New Hire Orientation.
  • Completion of all required trainings, including Relias, upon hire and annually thereafter.
  • Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and current auto insurance.
Physical Requirements

ADA Consideration – Sedentary Work

  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects, including the human body.
  • Repetitive hand, finger, and arm movements for typing and writing during work shifts.
  • Primarily sedentary work involving sitting most of the time, with occasional walking or standing.

Pay Range:

$58,700.00--$82,300.00
