About the location:

The Assistant Director of People & Culture will support the Director of People & Culture with the direction of all aspects of the Human Resources division including benefits administration, employee relations, recruitment and retention of staff, communication to staff, career development of staff, wage & hour compliance, training, workers’ compensation and legal matters related to hotel employees. This role is responsible for overseeing the employee experience and Human Resources Administration of Four Seasons Hotel Baltimore. This role closely supports the Director of People & Culture in positively influencing the engagement, environment and culture offered to employees of the hotel. The ideal candidate is passionate about playing an active role to positively influence an employee culture of trust and belonging, yet committed to ensuring the completion of all mandatory procedures which must be completed in People & Culture. Expertise in creating structure and tools, efficiently running a department, exploring and implementing new technology to improve results, and handling sensitive employee matters will be crucial to the success of this role.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Oversee the necessary administration of the People & Culture department, to include all documentation, legal, policy and budgetary requirements. Manage and develop the People & Culture Generalist.
2. Act as an objective third party in employee counseling, problem solving or any conflict situation and communicate to Director of People & Culture any circumstances that may raise legal issues for the hotel. The Assistant Director must ensure that documentation and follow up has been properly handled for any employee matter.
3. Identify, analyze and initiate appropriate actions to resolve any unsatisfactory pattern of employee turnover. Track turnover closely and conduct exit interviews with every departing employee.
4. Manage the administration of recruitment, including job postings, processing of offer letters and transfers, and tracking changes in staffing according to business needs. Assist in Learning & Development mandatory training such as Embark, annual Compliance and other development opportunities as needed.
5. Assist in conducting regular audits of insurance records, benefits billing, I-9 records, PTO allowances and policy compliance.
6. Maintain employment files and other records in a detailed manner on paper and in the People & Culture computer systems.
7. Comply with and enforce Four Seasons’ Category One and Category Two Work Rules and Standards of Conduct as set forth in EmPact.
8. Work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and supervisors while maintaining the confidentiality of People & Culture.
9. Assist in organizing and supervising employee recreation programs include holiday parties, children’s parties, appreciation events, general meetings etc.
10. Assist in responding to and attend any related hearings for all employee claims against the hotel including EEOC, NLRB, Workers’ Compensation, Unemployment and Wage & Hour.
11. Actively support the Hotel's Lead with Care & Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging Committees.
12. Manage the quality and appearance of employee back-of-house spaces, including the cafeteria, employee entrance, lockers rooms, New Mother’s room and training room.
