About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Nursing, RN for an amazing opportunity in Macomb County (New Haven, Michigan). This is a strong opportunity for a nursing leader who has hands-on experience in behavioral health, psychiatric nursing, or addiction recovery and is ready to step into a highly visible leadership role.
The right candidate will be a licensed RN with inpatient psychiatric experience and prior nursing leadership experience. This role is ideal for someone who understands the pace, complexity, and importance of behavioral health nursing and wants to help lead a team focused on safety, quality care, and compassionate patient support.
This is an on-site leadership position with no remote option.
This is not just another nursing leadership role. You will be helping guide the daily operations of a psychiatric nursing department while supporting patient safety, staff development, compliance, and quality outcomes.
You will work closely with nursing leadership to ensure patients receive safe, respectful, and clinically appropriate care. You will also play a key role in mentoring staff, supporting operations, improving processes, and helping maintain a positive and professional care environment.

Requirements
- Current RN license in the state of Michigan
- At least two years of registered nursing experience required
- Inpatient psychiatric RN experience required
- One or more years of behavioral health, psychiatric, addiction recovery, or related experience required
- One or more years of progressive nursing leadership or management experience required
- Prior experience as a nursing manager strongly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or higher required
- CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required, with training available upon hire
- Strong communication, leadership, and staff development skills
- Ability to work fully on-site in New Haven, Michigan
- Five or more years of RN experience
- Two or more years of behavioral health RN experience
- RN leadership experience in an inpatient psychiatric hospital setting
- Experience working in a union hospital environment
- Strong understanding of patient safety, regulatory compliance, and behavioral health nursing operations
