Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Assistant Director, Education Abroad and Global Academic Services - Boca Raton, FL.

The Assistant Director, Education Abroad and Global Academic Services plays a key leadership role in advancing global learning opportunities and supporting student success through international education initiatives. This position oversees education abroad advising, student support services, academic integration, and global partnership management while ensuring compliance with university policies and international requirements. The Assistant Director collaborates closely with academic colleges, faculty, the Registrar's Office, and campus partners to facilitate seamless study abroad experiences, promote access and participation, and support students throughout the entire education abroad lifecycle. In addition, this role provides strategic oversight of program assessment, partner relations, scholarship advising, risk management processes, and staff supervision to enhance the quality, impact, and accessibility of education abroad programs. This position requires demonstrated professional experience administering, advising, or supporting education abroad programs within a higher education environment.

Summary of Responsibilities:

• Provide advanced advising to students pursuing education abroad opportunities.
• Establish advising standards and ensure consistent student support across program types.
• Oversee application, acceptance, pre-departure, and post-program processes.
• Identifies barriers to participation and develops strategies to increase access and participation in education abroad programs.
• Supports students with academic, financial, logistical, and personal considerations related to study abroad.
• Advises students on scholarship eligibility, application development, timelines, and institutional processes.
• Develops workshops and campus programming related to nationally competitive scholarships and education abroad programs.
• Tracks participation and outcomes and uses data to strengthen future recruitment.
• Serve as the education abroad office's primary liaison with academic colleges and departments regarding academic planning for students abroad.
• Coordinates the establishment and maintenance of course placeholders for education abroad programs.
• Work with the Registrar's Office to ensure appropriate course enrollment, registration, credit, and transcript processes.
• Collaborates with faculty and academic departments to facilitate course approvals and credit transfer.
• Identifies and resolves academic issues affecting students before, during, and after their programs.
• Supports integration of education abroad into students' academic degree plans.
• Assists with education abroad health, safety, risk management, and emergency response processes, including emergency phone duty.
• Monitors student participation and required pre-departure documentation.
• Coordinates with the Dean of Students and other campus partners regarding student concerns abroad.
• Ensures programs and students adhere to university policies and applicable international requirements.
• Supports faculty leaders throughout the faculty-led program creation and administration.
• Evaluates program outcomes and identifies opportunities for improvement.
• Serves as a primary institutional contact for designated education abroad providers and partner institutions.
• Evaluates provider performance, student participation, program quality, and student feedback.
• Maintains effective relationships with exchange and direct-enroll partners.
• Monitors education abroad enrollment and participation trends.
• Conducts program evaluations and student satisfaction assessments.
• Assist the Senior Director with strategic planning and annual assessment.
• Supervises coordinators and/or student employees.
• Provides training, coaching, and performance feedback.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience.
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree with 2 years of experience in a study abroad office in a university/college setting.
Very high level of organization and attention to detail.
Prior experience with CRM systems, Campus Community preferred.
Experience with faculty-led program development and risk management for education abroad programs.
Prior experience studying, living, or working abroad.

Salary:

$62,000 - $70,000 Annually.
Exempt Administrative, Managerial, Professional (AMP)
