As the Assistant Director of Development Operations, you will provide strategic leadership for all development operations and controls supporting a $30 million annual fundraising program. This includes overseeing Salesforce and all integrated fundraising platforms to ensure donor and gift data integrity, reliable reporting, and accurate monthly reconciliation with Finance.   The Assistant Director will lead the Donor Services team, various consultants and temporary staff, as well as serve as a strong liaison with all Development, Finance, and Volunteers team members, with the goal to better leverage CRM systems and maximize operating efficiency in our work.

What you’ll do in your role:  

  • Team leader and strategist responsible for designing, governing, and continuously improving the core operational systems that support Donor Services.
  • Leading the Donor Services team to ensure that the CRM systems are properly set up, used, and maintained and that all donations to CFBNJ are properly input and acknowledged.
  • Establishing and enforcing centralized standards, workflows, and controls for all development operations functions, including gift processing, acknowledgements, reporting, and data requests.
  • Understanding and analyzing the various platforms the team works with to ensure alignment and best practices in coordination in gift processing.
  • Serving as the primary liaison to Finance for the Development team with a focus on clear systems of financial reconciliation, reporting, system/data integrity and process.
  • Working closely with the CRM Specialist to define training priorities, system standards, and upgrade requirements;
  • Setting and enforcing data quality standards and oversight processes for donor and gift records, in partnership with the Manager of Data & Analytics.
  • Leading the development of revenue reporting and analytics that support fundraising strategy, forecasting, and executive decision-making.
  • Working with outside vendors for direct response, caging/gift acknowledgement, and telemarketing
  • Working closely with Chief Development Officer to monitor departmental expense budget and participate in annual development projections.
  • Managing and maintaining all SOPs

What you’ll need to be successful in this role:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and/or equivalent experience in a non-profit/development environment.
  • 5–8 years of experience working with Salesforce in a development or revenue operations context, including database administration, data hygiene, and system integrations.
  • 2-3 years experience managing a team.
  • Extensive experience with Salesforce and third-party platforms  (e.g., GoFundMe Pro, Fundraise Up), including integrations and data flows.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and connection to fundraising and financial platforms.
  • Experience supporting audits, reconciliations, or internal reviews related to fundraising revenue and donor data.
  • Understanding of the critical role of data and systems in informed decision-making and uses CRM insights to sharpen donor targeting and drive increased fundraising results.
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office with advanced skills in Excel and Word.
  • Must be able to organize and prioritize work, be proactive, take initiative, resolve problems, follow through and simultaneously manage multiple priorities, to ensure goals are met in a timely manner.
  • Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external constituents.

Pay Transparency: The salary range for this position is $83,400-$112,800. The final rate may be influenced by factors such as the position's scope and responsibilities, work experience, training, job-related skills, internal equity, and market conditions.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or equivalent experience
  • 5-8 years of experience with Salesforce in development operations
  • 2-3 years managing a team
  • Extensive experience with Salesforce and third-party platforms
  • Strong understanding of GAAP related to fundraising
  • Experience supporting audits and reconciliations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel and Word skills
