Company Description

At Guzman y Gomez Mexican Kitchen, our mission has always been to reinvent fast-food. We’re Australia’s only fast-food restaurant to be 100% clean, meaning there are no added preservatives, artificial flavours, added colours or unacceptable additives in our food. We’re incredibly proud of our amazing people, and the unique way we celebrate Mexican culture in everything we do.

Job Description

GYG opens a new restaurant every 10 days — and every one of them starts with a decision about where to build. The Assistant Development Manager joins the team making those decisions, working directly alongside the Development Manager and Head of Development on site identification, deal administration, and development approvals. If you're early in your property career and want to move fast, this is the role.

What You'll Do

  • Support the identification and evaluation of new restaurant sites across your state
  • Assist with the internal site approval process and preparation of submission materials
  • Coordinate development approvals and liaise with planning authorities
  • Maintain accurate records and manage the development pipeline across project tracking tools
  • Build relationships with landlords, agents, and external development partners
  • Support deal administration including heads of agreement and lease documentation

What You'll Bring

  • A Bachelor's degree (or currently completing) in Property, Real Estate, Urban Planning, Business or a related field
  • 1–2 years' experience in a property or development-related role, or a recent graduate with relevant internship or academic project experience
  • Basic understanding of commercial real estate concepts with ambition to develop deeper financial modelling skills
  • A driven, detail-oriented approach and comfort working in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and genuine interest in building commercial relationships

What You'll Love

  • Join one of Australia's fastest-growing restaurant companies
  • Real exposure across the full development lifecycle from day one
  • Annual short-term incentive scheme
  • GYG restricted shares, earned each year through our long-term incentive scheme
  • Up to 5 weeks of annual leave each year (ask us how)
  • Paid parental leave
  • Conveniently located office in Fortitude Valley, right above the train station, with paid parking options also available
