The Impact You Will Make:
As Assistant Counsel, you will join our whip-smart team of in-house lawyers to tackle a range of commercial matters including contract management and review, marketing advising and review, product counseling and advising on various marketplace issues, labor and employment counseling, business licensing and registration, as well as regulatory compliance. You will interact directly with our business teams and represent the legal team with dedication to learning new areas of law and providing client-focused service. The diverse matters you will handle will challenge you to think creatively and pragmatically, all while ensuring that business needs are met.
What You Bring To The Table:

  • JD degree required; admitted and in good standing in Illinois or New York
  • 2-4 years practicing law with a focus on commercial matters (in-house experience a plus!)
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and writing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • balance competing projects in a fast-paced environment
    • learn quickly and take on challenging new projects
    • prioritize and follow-through on numerous projects simultaneously
    • work autonomously while paying attention to detail
  • Must be a team player who is willing to pitch in where needed in a fast-paced company


Where You'll Work:
This candidate will work from either our Chicago or NYC offices (hybrid schedule). Chicago candidates are preferred.
The base salary ranges for this position are below. The ranges provided exclude other forms of compensation such as equity and bonus.
New York: $119k-178k base salary range
Chicago: $108k - $162k base salary range
Grubhub uses geographic-specific salary structures, which means the salary offered may vary depending on where the job is located. The final salary offer will take into account various factors, such as the candidate's skills, education, training, credentials, and experience. In addition to the base salary, the role might also come with equity and other pay incentives as part of the full compensation package.
