Job Description

Turner & Townsend alinea is seeking Assistant Cost Managers to join our dynamic, award-winning Cost Management team in our London office, working within the Real Estate team.

We have long-term secured frameworks with national and regional organisations across the Commercial Developer sector, providing the opportunity to work on a diverse range of exciting projects.

Candidates with experience gained in consultancy, client-side, contractor, or related environments are encouraged to apply. RICS membership, or progress towards professional accreditation, would be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support feasibility studies and the preparation of procurement reports.
  • Prepare cost estimates and cost plans, including the production and presentation of final cost plans.
  • Support tendering and procurement activities, including managing pre-qualification processes, preparing tender lists, compiling preliminaries, undertaking tender analysis, producing tender reports, and preparing contractual documentation.
  • Manage post-contract cost variations and change control processes, escalating significant changes where appropriate.
  • Undertake cost checks and valuations, ensuring all cost management activities are completed accurately and within required timescales.
  • Produce and present monthly post-contract cost reports to clients and project stakeholders.
  • Contribute to value engineering exercises and cost optimisation initiatives.
  • Negotiate and agree final accounts.
  • Collaborate with clients, consultants, and other project stakeholders throughout all stages of project delivery.
  • Where appropriate, lead cost management teams, ensuring high standards of performance, accountability, and service delivery.

Qualifications

  • Good technical grounding in all of the main areas of cost management and contractor a background
  • Experience of acting as Commission Manager on small to medium sized projects, or at least sufficient related experience to enable a step up to performing the role of Commission Manager
  • Good knowledge of the main procurement methods and their application with respect to the 'tactical procurement' of small to medium sized buildings
  • Knowledge and understanding of value engineering
  • Experience of utilising a range of industry standard processes and systems (IT and other) in order to effectively deliver a project.
  • Working towards Chartership
  • Degree or HNC level qualification
  • Ability to successfully manage and prioritise more than one project at a time.
