Job Summary
We are looking for an Assistant Controller to join our Finance team and support the day-to-day accounting operations of the business. Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Controller, this role plays a key part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with IFRS and regulatory requirements.
The Assistant Controller partners closely with Operational Finance and cross-functional teams to support close processes, audits, budgeting activities, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role offers an opportunity to lead and develop a high-performing accounting team while contributing to a growing, complex organization.
About our Finance Team
You’ll join a collaborative Global Finance team that works closely across borders to support a developing, complex organization. Our Bothell‑based team operates hybrid, with shared onsite days and regular team touchpoints to stay connected and aligned. It’s a high‑energy environment where partnership, problem‑solving, and continuous improvement drive everything we do.
Your Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, payroll accounting, fixed assets, and intercompany accounting.
Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes for U.S. entities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Review and approve journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reports.
Ensure preparation of accurate financial statements in accordance with IFRS and internal guidelines.
Maintain compliance with lease accounting standards (IFRS 16) and internal control requirements, including J-SOX.
Coordinate internal and external audits and support timely issue resolution.
Oversee fixed asset accounting and CAPEX reporting in collaboration with operational teams.
Lead sales and use tax activities and support preparation of U.S. tax and property tax schedules.
Drive process improvements to increase efficiency, consistency, and control across accounting operations.
Provide financial analysis and insights to support management decision-making.
Support ERP and accounting system enhancements and implementations.
Partner with Finance leadership on special projects and strategic initiatives.
Your Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; MBA strongly encouraged.
10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 5 years in a management role.
Experience in life sciences, manufacturing, or similarly complex environments preferred.
Strong knowledge of IFRS and U.S. GAAP.
Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
CPA certification preferred.
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX or Dynamics 365 is a plus.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop accounting professionals.
High ethical standards and strong attention to detail.
