Assistant Controller

Madden’s is seeking an Assistant Controller to join our Finance team. This position plays a key role in the department as the primary support to the Controller. This role helps ensure accurate financial records, timely payment applications, proper cash controls, and compliance with company policies and accounting procedures. This role is 100% onsite.

Accounting: Daily/Weekly/Monthly Duties:
•    Ensure that accounts payable are coded properly and paid in a timely manner
•    Ensure that group billings and accounts receivable are collected promptly
•    Review and reconcile all AR accounts monthly
•    Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed
•    Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
•    Assist Controller in delivering financial statements to management
•    Maintain revenue management system by routinely updating forecasts and co-managing yielded rates
•    Track and assist sales team in reporting AR Aging.

Reporting Duties:
•    Prepare monthly and annual GAAP financial statements, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations for Controller approval. 
•    Prepare and file monthly sales tax returns. 
•    Assist the Controller in the preparation of the annual budget and forecasts 
•    Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management 
•    Provide for a system of management cost reports

Education/Experience:
•    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance 
•    Minimum of 5+ years of financial reporting, general ledger accounting, budgeting, and financial analysis
•    CPA or CMA designation preferred but not required.  

Supervisory Responsibilities: 
•    This position does not require any supervisory responsibilities. 

Work Environment:
•    This role is 100% onsite.

Physical Demands:
•    Primarily stationery (sitting or standing for extended periods)
•    Ability to communicate in person and by phone
•    Occasional bending, kneeling, crouching, and lifting boxes or items up to 50 pounds

Expected Hours of Work:
8:00am – 4:30pm Monday through Friday
