Position Charter
The Assistant Controller – Treasury and Tax supports the Controller in managing the company’s global tax compliance, reporting, and treasury functions within a multi-national environment. This role assists with corporate income tax filings across U.S. federal, state, and local jurisdictions, supports international tax calculations, and contributes to accurate financial reporting. In addition, the position supports cash flow management, debt administration, and relationships with financial institutions, while assisting with expatriate tax compliance. This position is classified as full-time and exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
Reporting Relationships
- This position reports to the Controller, Treasury and Tax.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Tax Compliance & Reporting
- Assist the Controller in preparing and reviewing consolidated U.S. federal corporate income tax returns.
- Support the preparation of consolidated, combined, and standalone state and city income tax filings.
- Assist with international tax calculations for multiple foreign entities.
- Support preparation of the annual tax provision in accordance with applicable accounting standards (ASC 740).
- Assist in performing and documenting return-to-provision calculations for each legal entity.
- Help ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations, including timely filings and payments.
- Coordinate with external advisors on tax matters and audits as directed by the Controller.
Expatriate Tax Coordination
- Assist in administering tax support for a population of 25+ expatriate employees.
- Prepare expatriate compensation packages for tax equalization and reporting purposes.
- Coordinate with external accounting firms to facilitate timely and accurate preparation of expatriate personal income tax returns.
- Support responses to expatriate tax-related inquiries.
Treasury Management
- Assist in preparing and maintaining monthly cash flow forecasts and projections.
- Support the monitoring and management of daily cash positions across multiple accounts and entities.
- Assist with administration of short-term and long-term debt facilities, including covenant compliance.
- Support relationships with banks and other financial institutions.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual treasury and tax reporting packages.
- Support required reporting to financial institutions and the foreign parent company.
- Assist with internal and external audits related to tax and treasury functions.
- Help identify process improvements and support implementation of best practices.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in related business discipline (accounting, tax, economics, general business, etc.).
Physical Requirements
This is primarily a sedentary job that requires:
- Mobility & Posture: Ability to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for prolonged periods, with occasional movement within the office to access files, equipment, or attend meetings.
- Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, operating office equipment (e.g., computer, phone, copier, scanner).
- Vision: Ability to read printed materials and view information on a computer screen for extended periods, with or without corrective lenses.
- Hearing & Speech: Ability to hear and respond to verbal communication in person and via telephone or virtual platforms; clear speech for effective communication.
- Environmental Conditions: Work is performed in a climate-controlled office environment with moderate noise levels from office equipment and conversations.
- Lifting & Carrying: Ability to lift, carry, and move office supplies or equipment weighing up to 20 lbs. occasionally.
- Reaching & Bending: Occasional reaching above shoulder level, bending, or stooping to retrieve or store materials.

Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, tax, economics, or related business discipline
- Experience preparing or reviewing consolidated U.S. federal corporate income tax returns
- Knowledge of ASC 740 and tax provision/return-to-provision calculations
- Experience with state and local income tax filings and international tax calculations
- Experience coordinating expatriate tax matters and tax equalization for employee population
- Experience preparing cash flow forecasts, monitoring daily cash positions, and supporting debt administration/covenant compliance
- Ability to perform sedentary office work and occasional lifting up to 20 lbs.
