The Express currently has a great opportunity and are looking for an Assistant Chief Sub Editor to join our team 2 days per week on a part time basis.

We are now seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Chief Sub Editor to join our dedicated editorial team.

This role is part time for 2 days per week (flexible on days worked)

Job Description
What will the role involve?
As the Assistant Chief Sub Editor, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the high standards of our publication. Your responsibilities will include editing and proofreading to ensure all content is accurate, clear, and engaging while adhering to house style and editorial guidelines.
You will manage the workflow of articles from submission to publication, ensuring timely delivery. In addition, you will assist the Chief Sub Editor in managing the sub-editing team, providing guidance and support as needed. Quality control will be a key part of your role, performing final checks on page layouts, headlines, and images to ensure overall quality and consistency. Collaboration is essential; you will work closely with reporters, editors, and designers to produce compelling and error-free content.
Qualifications
Who are we looking for?
You are an experienced journalist with your NCTJ or equivalent qualification and media law knowledge. The ideal candidate will have experience in sub-editing or a related field within a reputable news organisation.
Exceptional proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail are essential. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, along with familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and digital publishing tools. The ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom environment is crucial for success in this role.
