About the location:

A secluded oasis at the edge of an idyllic lagoon! Purpose 

Plays an important role in assisting and supporting the Director Of Engineering & Chief Engineer in managing the engineering department. Takes responsibility in overseeing the repair and preventative maintenance of all Villas through the involvement of all subordinates. Must also possess a service-oriented mindset with competent technical skill and knowledge and with a committed attitude towards the hotel operation. 

 

Job Responsibilities 

 

General 

 

  • Builds a motivated and skilled team, leads by example and instils a culture of continuous learning and improvement among employees; actively participates in Employee Relations activities and programs. 

  • Actively plans and manages the career development of every employee through effective coaching, training and by instilling company values; is concerned for employees' continuous development and personal growth. 

  • Organizes and manages the department in accordance with company philosophy and policies, maximizing efficiency and productivity and achieving established goals; promotes harmony between departments. 

  • Displays warmth, care and genuine enthusiasm when dealing with guests and internal customers; lives the Golden Rule. 

  • Demonstrates standards awareness, by setting example for standards execution, standards testing and implementing action plans to achieve established product and service goals. 

  • Prepares annual plans and forecasts, consistently monitors and manages budgetary goals. 

  • Maintains an organized administration of departmental and personnel records, including shift planning and leaves planning.  

  • Ensures employees adhere to the code of conduct and grooming & hygiene standards as specified in the employee handbook. 

  • Conducts daily briefing and monthly departmental meeting (with minutes copied to division head) and participates in meetings when invited. 

  • Provides regular and fair performance feedback to employees, formally and informally as appropriate. 

  • Is seen as a hands-on leader, assists employees in crunch times. 

  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area and ensures tools & equipment are well maintained and in sufficient supply. 

  • Promotes and ensures a safe working environment.  

  • Performs any other cognate duties as and when required. 

 

 

Departmental 

 

  • To assist the Chief Engineer in the day-to-day engineering operations. 

  • To supervise and delegate duties to all engineering staff. 

  • To ensure the engineer’s store is well stock and managed. 

  • To plan, schedule and co-ordinate building, M&E works. 

  • To liaise with outside contractors and all maintenance contracts. 

  • To maintain interior and exterior of the building, furniture, fixtures, etc 

  • To submit reports that are required for the day-to-day engineering operational needs. 

  • To prepare duty / leave roster for engineering staff. 

  • To supervise and ensure correct enforcement of meal and break periods for staff in accordance with the hotel’s regulation. 

  • To update all M&E services drawing and proper management of these drawings. 

  • To develop and implement preventive maintenance and repair schedules for all M&E system / equipment. 

  • To develop and implement cost reduction, work simplification methods and techniques and improvement programs. 

  • Direct involvement with control and supervise over contractors working in the hotel. 

  • Conduct briefing and engineering procedures to trainees on cross-exposure training. 

  • Conduct daily briefing with all engineering staff. 

  • Prepare monthly report for utilities consumption and energy consumption. 

  • Keeping all equipment in good repair by providing day-to-day maintenance of the hotel under the direction of Director of Engineering, Chief Engineer and Director of Residences.  

  • Checking of M & E plant and update the records on a regular basis.   

  • Checking of utilities readings and analyzing the figures twice a month for the Residences.  

  • Planning and performing Preventive Maintenance for engineering system in the Residences according to the program and the Reserve Study. 

  • Managing safety issues related to engineering system of the hotel. 

  • Managing repair and maintenance project and building improvement by effectively coordinating and planning all tasks in advance of beginning any project under the direction of engineering management. 

  • Using project management techniques along with the appropriately assigned engineering team members to perform project planning and execution. 

  • Is accountable for all the hot water boilers and steam boilers for the Residences. 

  • Supervising the Perfect Room Program for Residences and respect the given deadline. 

  • Monitoring the Repair and Maintenance Budget while taking in consideration which repairs need owner’s approval. 

  • Supervising all new projects, CAPEX and the Reserve Study. 

  • Performing other job duties as requested by the Superior. 

  • Notifying the Superior on any irregularities to plants and equipment or abuse of Engineering equipment by other hotel staffProviding assistance to colleagues in other tracks as and when required 

 

Special Requirements 

 

  • At least 4-5 years of working experience either with a reputable contractor or hotel. 

  • Certificate in electrical, mechanical, or any other engineering field from a locally recognized Institute. 

  • Must be willing to work odd hours 

  • Must be service oriented and be able to maintain Four Seasons Hotel standard of hospitality at all times 

  • Must be willing to perform shift work – evening shift. 

  • Must be able to assist colleagues during peak time even after normal working hours 

  • Must be able to show correct leadership skills
