Assistant Camp Director
Position Summary:
Under the general direction of the Camp Director, the Assistant Camp Director is responsible for the safety of campers and assisting in implementing high-quality camp programming. As a member of the Camp staff, the Assistant Camp Director will build relationships, foster achievement, and encourage belonging by providing a friendly, healthy, and fun atmosphere for all campers, supporting their personal growth, maturity, and socialization.
Essential Functions:
- Ensure campers are safe and well-supervised at all times.
- Provide leadership for camp programming, safety, and activities.
- Assist with development and implementation of Staff Orientation schedule and program.
- Oversee scheduling of program activities, theme days, and family nights with Activity Specialists and Counselors.
- Oversee logistics and schedules for off-site trips.
- Communicate performance standards; supervise, evaluate, and motivate staff, including coaching, teaching, modeling, and addressing difficult situations.
- Connect with staff, campers, and parents, making all feel welcome and included.
- Regularly review concerns, priorities, progress, problems, reports, and program matters with the Camp Director.
- Oversee and monitor all safety guidelines associated with camp programs.
- Identify and report maintenance concerns promptly.
- Assist with family nights and special events as needed.
- Work with Camp Director and leadership to develop consistent communication practices and program initiatives.
- Cooperate with all staff and other programs on the property.
- Attend staff meetings, special events, and training events as scheduled.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- Ability to perform essential functions with sufficient strength, agility, and mobility, both indoors and outdoors.
- Ability to work in environments with extreme heat and humidity.
- Physically and mentally able to respond to emergencies and administer CPR and First Aid.

- Minimum five years of experience working at a camp or related experience with children in a leadership capacity.
- Ability to independently lead and actively participate in a variety of activities.
- Experience in supervision.
- Ability to create and deliver activities.
- Excellent communication skills.
- First Aid & CPR certifications.
