Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor of Environmental and Sustainability Sciences
About the Opportunity
The Department of Marine and Environmental Sciences in the College of Science at Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts invites applications from qualified candidates for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position, which includes service as the director of our growing MS in Environmental Science and Policy (ESP) program. Primary responsibilities include taking on responsibility for the management and growth of the ESP program and teaching courses that serve both our undergraduate majors and the ESP and other graduate programs.
We seek broadly trained candidates with expertise in areas such as natural resource management, sustainability sciences, conservation biology, environmental/land use planning, environmental water quality/restoration, or related fields. Candidates who can leverage their prior experience with government, industry, or non-profit organizations to enhance experiential learning opportunities for students are strongly encouraged to apply.
Given the diversity of our curriculum, we seek candidates that can offer both day and evening courses.
Application review will begin on November 15, 2025, and will continue until the position is filled. The anticipated start date is either January 2026 or July 2026.
Qualifications:
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in the environmental/sustainability sciences or another closely related discipline prior to the start of the appointment.
Experience teaching undergraduate and graduate lecture courses required. Experience in curriculum development is preferred.
The candidate must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral as well as collaboration and leadership skills to manage and grow the MS in ESP program.

Pay Range:
Assistant Teaching Professor: $78,000.00 - $95,000.00 | Associate Teaching Professor: $83,000.00 - $93,000.00With the pay range(s) shown above, the starting salary will depend on several factors, which may include your education, experience, location, knowledge and expertise, and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarly-situated employees already in the role. Salary ranges are reviewed regularly and are subject to change.
