As an Assistant Accountant, you’ll play an important role in supporting our Care Services business. You’ll help make sure our financial information is accurate, clear and delivered on time. This helps leaders make better decisions that support our residents and customers.
You’ll be part of our Planning & Reporting team, working closely with colleagues across finance and the wider business. You’ll also support care home managers, helping them understand their financial performance in a simple and practical way.
This role is a great opportunity to build your accounting skills, gain exposure to different parts of the business, and continue your professional development.
How you’ll help us make health happen
Support the preparation of management accounts for Care Homes, working to tight deadlines
Help produce monthly reports, including clear and simple commentary
Manage the Management Accounts Help Desk, supporting care home managers with queries
Prepare and post accruals, prepayments and journals
Investigate and explain differences between actual results, forecasts and prior year
Reconcile control accounts on a monthly basis
Support the production of forecasts and the Annual Operating Plan
Provide accurate and timely financial information to stakeholders across the business
Assist with projects and other ad hoc tasks as needed
Help maintain strong financial controls and consistent reporting processes
Key Skills/Qualifications needed for this role
Part-qualified (or working towards) a professional qualification such as ACCA or CIMA would be beneficial
A good understanding of accounting fundamentals
Experience working in a fast paced finance or accounting role is essential
Confident using Excel and other finance systems
Strong attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy
Able to work to tight deadlines and manage your time well
Good communication skills, able to explain financial information clearly
A proactive mindset, with a willingness to learn and develop
Comfortable building relationships with stakeholders across the business
A positive, “can-do” approach to your work
