Job Description
The Assistant Accountant will be crucial in supporting the Finance team by ensuring the accurate, timely, and compliant delivery of financial information. Key responsibilities include assisting with various finance and accounting tasks such as government reporting, account reconciliation, variance analysis, and rebate calculations.
This position offers the opportunity to develop a deep understanding of financial statements and gain valuable insights into business operations. As the Assistant Accountant builds a strong commercial mindset, they will contribute to financial analysis and make a real impact on the business.

Key Functions & Responsibilities:
- Accurate Financial Processing: Ensure precise processing and documentation of all financial transactions to maintain integrity and accuracy in financial records.
- Closing Procedures: Assist in the monthly and yearly closing procedures by preparing necessary journals and reports, ensuring timely and accurate financial close.
- Balance Sheet Reconciliation: Support the reconciliation of balance sheets to ensure all accounts are balanced and discrepancies are addressed promptly.
- Payroll Assistance: Aid in the processing of payroll and payroll tax, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time.
- Government Reporting: Assist in the preparation of BAS, PAYG, FBT, and other government reports to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Audit Support: Provide required documentation and support during audit activities to facilitate smooth and efficient audits.
- Additional: Working out Rebate, Royalty, Service fee, posting Journals and assisting with Internal & Group Reporting
- Ad-Hoc Reporting: Generate ad-hoc reports and provide financial information as requested to support various business needs and decision-making processes.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree: Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 3-4 years in Accounting or Finance role
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, SAP) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Calculations: Proven experience in performing balance sheet reconciliation, profit and loss (P&L) analysis, and cost of Bill of Materials (BOM)
- Excel Proficiency: Advanced knowledge and competency in using VLOOKUP and XLOOKUP functions in Excel.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with Australian accounting standards and tax regulations.
- Financial Analysis: Ability to perform balance sheet reconciliation, profit and loss (P&L) analysis, and cost of Bill of Materials (BOM) calculations.
Desirable
- Professional Certification: CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CA (Chartered Accountant) certification.
- Industry Experience: Experience in Manufacturing or FMCG background
- Advanced Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in accounting software and tools.
- Experience using ERP systems such as Movex, PowerBI, Xero, or Dynamic 365 (highly desirable)
Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong written and oral communication skills, ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
- Self-motivated learner with proactive problem-solving skills, agile and can-do attitude
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Excel (Xlookup, Vlookup and Pivot table)
- Ability to generate Power BI reports
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work to deadlines and with excellent time management skills
