Legrand has an exciting opportunity for an Assembly Production Supervisor to join the Audio Video Division Team in Union, OH. This position is responsible for directing and supervising assembly personnel and all associated activities. Implement Lean manufacturing systems and strategy to ensure a safe work environment, maximize profitable growth, drive quality improvements, provide exceptional customer service, develop a technically qualified work force, reduce operating costs and lead times through continuous improvements. Oversee day-to-day activities to meet daily, monthly, quarterly and yearly expectations.

Responsibilities
  • Schedule raw material replenishments and put-aways according to job priorities and reevaluate the workload numerous times throughout the day.
  • Monitor headcount and increase or decrease the workforce utilizing a temporary workforce to ensure sufficient capacity to meet internal and external customers’ needs.
  • Ensure that processes are followed and held to the highest quality standards.
  • Ensure that all MHE operators are following the proper processes and procedures that are required in the performance of their daily duties.
  • Work with the Assembly team and the Manufacturing Engineering team to analyze and solve workflow problems to maximize efficiency and product output.
  • Lead daily materials meeting and provide status updates on production orders that have missed their scheduled production dates.
  • Direct the Returned Goods rework process and make sure that all RMA’s (Returned Material Authorization) are processed in a timely manner.
  • Review, update and manage the shop floor employee’s Time & Attendance records in the Time Management System.
  • Review product replenishment reports for our local warehouses and coordinate the assembly and transferring of product to fulfill the product requirements in those warehouses.
  • Work with the inventory team to investigate inventory discrepancies and help identify the root cause for the discrepancy and then implement procedural changes to eliminate these root cause issues.
  • Act as a liaison between multiple functional areas to resolve issues that affect production and the delivery of products.
  • Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve shop floor metrics.
  • Initiate and assist with the creation, development, and implementation of processes and procedures.
  • Effectively manage, develop, and motivate direct and indirect reports.
  • Responsible for all aspects of performance management including interviewing, hiring, training, performance evaluations, and recognition.
  • Provide effective, constructive and appropriate feedback and leadership to direct reports to foster positive, team atmosphere; ensure personal and professional development of direct reports.
  • Initiate and assist with the creation, development, and implementation of processes and procedures.
  • Consistently support compliance by maintaining privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, and the Company’s policies and procedures.
  • Understand workplace hazards and take steps to proactively prevent and report hazards or injuries in the workplace. Cooperate in safety programs, initiatives, and investigations.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of (2) years of supervisory/management experience in a manufacturing environment or 5-7 years of supervisory/management experience in a manufacturing environment or combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Previous experience with ERP systems.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 

  • Dependable and enthusiastic with the ability to use good judgment, work independently with minimal direction, and possess a strong initiative and positive attitude.
  • Strong process focus – ability to recommend and implement changes in processes to improvement efficiency and performance.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interpret standards, specifications, procedures, drawings, etc.
  • Proven knowledge and application of Lean Manufacturing Principles. (Kanban, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Single Piece Flow….)
  • Understanding of MRP inputs and outputs.
  • Must be detailed orientated and have excellent follow-through skills.
  • Proven ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong metric focus.
  • Proven ability to manage people; train and motivate employees, as well as delegate effectively.
  • Must be able to function in a deadline driven environment.
  • Proven ability to make sound decisions to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or government law.
  • Excellent project management, planning, and organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage several projects at one time while providing high attention to details and excellent follow-through skills.
  • Must possess high degree of professionalism and ability to handle confidential information.
  • Proficient in the use of personal computers, internet and Microsoft Office suite of software including Word, Excel and Outlook (or related e-mail system).
  • High math aptitude.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.

Special Job Requirements:

  • Ability to work long hours and weekends as required to support the core business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project management and planning skills.
  • SAP Knowledge.
  • Production Planning system experience.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, reach above shoulder level, reach below knee level, bend/twist/stoop, squat/kneel, climb, and regularly lift/carry, up to 40 lbs.; and occasionally up to 40 lbs. as needed. Also, may include pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs. Regularly requires coordinated movements of the fingers for data entry on a keyboard.
  • Steel-toed shoes are required for working in this position.
  • Regular shop assembly/distribution center environment (no air conditioning).
