Pay Rate: $62,000 - $82,000 (Exempt, Based on Experience)

JOB SUMMARY:

The Assembly Operations Supervisor leads assembly operations, inventory, and production to ensure the safe, efficient manufacturing of custom overhead crane systems. This role combines technical expertise with production leadership and works closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to interpret engineering drawings, and either manufacturing leadership experience or the technical foundation and potential to grow into the role.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Supervise daily manufacturing and assembly operations to meet production schedules, quality standards, and customer delivery requirements.
  • Lead and develop production employees through coaching, training, and performance management.
  • Manage labor utilization and inventory to meet operational budgets and production goals.
  • Develop, monitor, and present key performance indicators (KPIs) to leadership.
  • Coordinate production schedules, staffing, and material availability.
  • Partner with Engineering to resolve manufacturing and assembly challenges.
  • Review engineering drawings, bills of material (BOMs), and work instructions to ensure production readiness.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical assembly issues and implement process improvements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, productivity, quality, and cost reduction.
  • Monitor inventory accuracy and material flow throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Ensure compliance with company quality standards and manufacturing procedures.
  • Maintain accurate production and inventory records.
  • Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and health regulations while promoting a culture of zero incidents.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline preferred.

OR

  • Equivalent combination of technical education, certifications, and significant manufacturing experience with demonstrated technical leadership.
  • Experience in heavy industrial or custom manufacturing environments.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, assembly prints, shop manuals, and bills of material.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

Preferred

  • Manufacturing leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Experience with inventory management and production planning.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or Six Sigma principles.
  • Experience with fabrication, machining, mechanical assembly, or industrial equipment manufacturing.
  • Experience presenting operational metrics and KPIs to management.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Ability to stand/walk 95% of the workday
  • Lift up to 50 pounds with the assistance of overhead crane and/or co-workers
  • Twist, reach and bend frequently
  • Possess hand/eye coordination and bilateral dexterity (gross and fine)
  • Possess depth perception and peripheral vision
  • Possess the ability to hear
  • Possess the ability to ascend and descend a ladder
  • Exposure to hot and cold conditions, noise, chemicals, and heavy equipment
