Job Summary:
The Dental Assistant assists the dentist during examinations and treatments of patients by preparing and sterilizing equipment, providing assistance to patients, and maintaining records. The Dental Assistant also provides support for front office duties such as scheduling appointments, answering phones, and filing insurance claims.
Job Responsibilities:
• Prepare treatment rooms for patient exams and procedures.
• Sterilize instruments in accordance with infection control policies and guidelines.
• Maintain patient medical records according to HIPAA regulations.
• Take x-rays and intraoral photographs under supervision of the dentist.
• Provide assistance to patients during exams and procedures.
• Schedule appointments and answer phone calls.
• File insurance claims and collect payments.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
Job Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a dental assisting program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
• Current certification in CPR and first aid.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of dental terminology and procedures.
• Experience with electronic health record systems.
Skills Required
