This is a role for a driven commodities operations professional who combines deep subject matter expertise with the leadership instinct to elevate a team and the hands-on credibility to earn their trust.


As a Vice President within Global Commodities Operations, you will lead the Asia Physical Commodities Operations function. You will own operational performance, maintain a robust controls environment, and act as the team’s subject matter expert and practitioner-leader across complex transactions and evolving market practices. You will build strong relationships across Front Office, Middle Office, Risk, Finance, Compliance, and external counterparties, while driving initiatives that strengthen controls, reduce operational risk, and improve efficiency and scalability.

Job responsibilities 

  • Own the operational performance of the Asia physical commodities function, driving accountability, continuous improvement, and high standards across the full scope of the team's remit
  • Act as the team's subject matter expert and practitioner-leader, guiding the team through complex transactions, escalations, and evolving market practices, while contributing actively to day-to-day operations where the role demands it
  • Maintain a robust controls environment across physical commodities operations, encompassing exception management, position and inventory oversight, reconciliations, document management, compliance, and sanctions screening
  • Build and manage relationships with internal stakeholders across Front Office, Middle Office, Risk, Finance, and Compliance, as well as external counterparties and vendors, ensuring operational alignment and timely issue resolution
  • Identify and drive initiatives that strengthen controls, reduce operational risk, and improve the efficiency and scalability of the platform

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills 
 
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 7 years of experience in commodities/banking operations, with meaningful exposure to physical commodities operations
  • Solid product knowledge in physical precious metals; experience in other physical commodities will also be considered
  • Strong grasp of the operational controls and risk framework applicable to physical commodity transactions, including compliance and sanctions obligations
  • Genuine team player and talent developer who invests in the people around them, brings colleagues along through practical guidance and mentorship, and takes ownership of building team capability
  • Effective communicator with the stakeholder management skills to operate credibly across trading, risk, finance, compliance, and external counterparties
