Purpose
The job responsibilities of the position holder will include:
- Full compliance to mandatory company approved PPE requirements necessary to carry out works in the Oxide, Mixed & Sulphide Flotation circuits and Gravity Concentrators. Includes but not limited to reflective work suits, safety goggles, gum boots or safety boots, hardhats and any other required special PPE.
- Perform all assigned plant maintenance (fitting) tasks in a safe, timely and qualitative manner as per OEM standards and FQM expectation.
- Ensure compliance with Safety and Environmental Management systems, policies and procedures along with ensuring that all risks have been identified, managed and a safe working environment is maintained by adhering to JSA's, Standard Maintenance Procedures (SMPs), Planned Task Observations (PTOs) good housekeeping practices etc. Be accurate, methodical, practical and safety-conscious when installing and maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment in the Flotation circuits and Gravity Concentrators.
- Have the ability to diagnose faults with equipment through observation and usage of specialised tools such as vibration pens and temperature guns etc.
- Participate in the execution of Preventive Maintenance (PMs), breakdown works, and proactive identification of repair and maintenance works required in the Flotation circuit & Gravity Concentrators plants such as Flotation cells (rotors and stators, dart valves, slurry centrifugal pumps and pipelines/valves), Gravity Concentrators (wear cones, bowls, bearing assemblies, rotary unions, feed and tails pipelines) which includes identification and elimination of defects.
- Coordinate with both Maintenance and Process team members of Flotation Plants and Gravity Concentrators in order to collectively achieve the set targets on Safety, Production and Costs KPls.
- Assist new employees in adapting to established work procedures and practices relevant to KMP Flotation Plants and Gravity Concentrators.
- Craft Certificate in mechanical fitting from a recognized institution [higher qualifications will be advantageous].
- A Grade 12 school certificate.
- Fully paid-up member of ElZ (Craftsperson).
- A valid Zambian driving license class C will be an added advantage.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in fixed processing plant as a qualified mechanical fitter relating to Flotation Plants & Gravity Concentrators.
- Experience in assembly and troubleshooting abilities on various types of Flotation cells rotors and stators, centrifugal slurry pumps, peristaltic pumps, linear screens, vibratory screen, Copper slurry Thickeners, Jameson flotation cells, Column cells (gearboxes and drive belts), Gravity Concentrators machines and various types & sizes of various valves and pipes.
- Experience in problem solving techniques such as 5 Whys on any mechanical failures in the Flotation Plants & Gravity Concentrators.
- Experience in thickener drive hydraulics will be added advantage.
- Experience/knowledge to operate fork-lifts and overhead cranes will be advantageous.
