Job description:
Optimisation of the comminution circuit performance to achieve target crushing and milling throughput through monitoring of daily performance, identifying deviations from critical parameters targets and developing short and long term solutions to close gap.
Key Responsibilities
- Crushing Circuit Optimization: Monitor and adjust crusher gaps, conduct regular Met checks, and optimize crusher performance to meet daily, weekly, and monthly targets.
- Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Track and report crushing, milling, and classification KPIs; compile daily, weekly, and monthly performance summaries
- Routine Plant Inspections: Perform scheduled inspections and spot checks on crushers, mills, classifiers, weightometers, and screens to ensure operational integrity.
- Particle Size & Plant Surveys: Conduct monthly belt cuts and full plant surveys for physical PSD analysis across circuits to support process optimization.
- PSA Camera: Calibrate and monitor PSA cameras for real-time particle size analysis, ensuring functionality and data reliability.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify bottlenecks, evaluate operating parameters, and drive long-term improvement initiatives across comminution circuits.
- Technical Operational Support: Work closely with operations teams to troubleshoot and optimize daily performance; actively participate morning planning meetings.
- Grinding Media: Maintain target ball load levels, track ball consumption, oversee ball sorting operations, and ensure proper charging protocols.
- Classification: Monitor cyclone and screen operation, conduct regular inspections and PSD checks, and ensure target classification is achieved.
- Mill Liner: Lead liner wear monitoring using tools like FARO 3D scanners, and report on liner performance.
- Documentation & Communication: Maintain accurate records and generate comprehensive reports and updates for operational and metallurgical teams.
- Cross-Department Coordination: Collaborate with, engineering, warehouse, and procurement teams to support seamless operations and planning
Qualifications
- Full grade 12 certificate
- Minimum Diploma in metallurgy, chemical engineering or related field
- Computer literate (Microsoft Office Package)
Experience
- A minimum of 1-year relevant experience in a plant environment is desired
- Strong analytical, data analyses and cognitive skills. Problem solving expertise would be an added advantage.
