Position Summary

The Senior Ariba IT Support Developer leads the design, delivery, and technical ownership of solutions on the organization's SAP Ariba procurement platform. As a recognized subject matter expert, this role architects complex multi-module solutions and integrations, drives platform reliability and continuous improvement, mentors developers and support analysts, and partners with Procurement, Finance, and IT leadership to shape the Ariba roadmap. Serves as the top technical escalation point, owning vendor escalations and leading major enhancement, release, and transformation initiatives end-to-end.

Position Grade Expectations

  • Delivers complex, cross-module Ariba solutions with minimal supervision; sets the technical direction for enhancements, integrations, and platform health initiatives.

  • Recognized subject matter expert across multiple Ariba modules; defines best practices, configuration standards, and design patterns adopted by the broader team.

  • Mentors and coaches P1/P2 developers and support analysts; leads code and design reviews, and drives onboarding and capability uplift across the team.

  • Leads large initiatives and drives improvements across teams — including automation, incident reduction, root-cause elimination, and release governance.

  • Operates effectively in ambiguity — frames problems, evaluates trade-offs, and influences organizational direction within the Ariba/procurement technology domain.

  • Proactively identifies and remediates quality, reliability, and security risks; partners with product, support, business, and vendor teams to deliver durable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and architecture of SAP Ariba solutions across modules (Buying & Invoicing, Sourcing, Contracts, Supplier Lifecycle & Performance, and Ariba Network), ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and the procurement roadmap.

  • Serve as the top technical escalation point for complex, cross-module, and cross-system issues; lead expert-level root-cause analysis and drive permanent resolution of recurring problems.

  • Architect, develop, configure, and govern Ariba solutions — including custom forms, approval workflows, catalog management, business rules, and reporting.

  • Lead the design, delivery, and support of integrations between Ariba and ERP systems (SAP S/4HANA / SAP ECC) via CIG (Cloud Integration Gateway), middleware, and APIs; establish integration standards and monitoring.

  • Own high-severity SAP vendor escalations; manage strategic vendor engagement for platform issues, enhancements, and roadmap alignment.

  • Lead Ariba quarterly release cycles end-to-end: assess release impacts, drive regression strategy, coordinate stakeholder communications, and govern change adoption.

  • Partner with Procurement, Finance, and business stakeholders to shape enhancement priorities and translate business strategy into a technical roadmap and delivery plan.

  • Lead major enhancement projects, upgrades, and rollouts — including solution design, requirements refinement, configuration, testing strategy, and deployment governance.

  • Drive continuous improvement across the Ariba platform: automation, self-heal, observability, incident reduction, and total cost of ownership optimization.

  • Mentor and coach junior developers and support analysts; lead peer reviews, establish coding and configuration standards, and grow team capability.

  • Establish and maintain authoritative technical documentation, architecture diagrams, runbooks, and knowledge base assets; enable service desk and support teams.

  • Ensure compliance with change management, SOX, security, and audit requirements across all Ariba solutions and integrations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 8–10+ years of hands-on experience supporting, configuring, and developing on SAP Ariba, with demonstrated depth across multiple modules (e.g., Buying & Invoicing, Sourcing, Contracts, SLP).

  • Proven experience leading the design and delivery of Ariba–ERP integrations with SAP S/4HANA / SAP ECC (CIG, web services, cXML, APIs, middleware).

  • Deep understanding of procure-to-pay (P2P) and source-to-contract (S2C) processes, master data, and controls.

  • Demonstrated experience leading enhancement projects or workstreams end-to-end, including requirements, design, delivery, and stakeholder management.

  • Demonstrated mentorship or technical leadership on a support and/or development team.

  • Expert-level analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of resolving complex, cross-system root-cause issues.

  • Advanced proficiency with ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira Service Management) and ITIL-based support and change processes.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to influence senior technical and business stakeholders and translate complex issues into business language.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, lead through ambiguity, and operate in SLA-driven, global support environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • SAP Ariba certification(s) across multiple modules (strongly preferred).

  • Scripting and development experience (e.g., SQL, JavaScript, Python, Groovy) for automation, integrations, and reporting.

  • Experience applying AI, machine learning, or intelligent automation within procurement platforms (e.g., PR-to-PO automation, invoice/exception handling).

  • Experience with Ariba Network supplier enablement, catalog management (CIF, PunchOut), and supplier portal strategy.

  • Experience leading quarterly release governance and Change Advisory Board (CAB) processes.

  • ITIL Foundation required; ITIL Intermediate/Managing Professional a plus.

  • Experience leading and supporting global user bases across multiple time zones and regions.
