DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Boston Red Sox are seeking an Area Scout to cover Bahamas territory. In this role, the Area Scout will Cover and report on players in The Bahamas and make recommendations on signing players. The Area Scout will also help with additional assignments/coverages as assigned by Immediate Supervisors.
This opening is for a part-time consultant. Candidates must reside in The Bahamas year-round to be considered.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Primary Scout for assigned area, including reporting responsibilities and establishing a thorough network (players, trainers/coaches, player representatives).
- Maintain a detailed preference list for players in your assigned area and any other players you report on.
- Take video of players and upload them to Red Sox System.
- Evaluate player makeup and build relationships with players and their families.
- Provide regular updates to superiors on players in your territory.
- Covers assigned events inside and outside your territory.
- Assist appropriate staff in Physical Assessments of players and data collection where needed.
- Develop a working knowledge of select technologies as well as how to apply your results to the evaluation process.
- Submit expenses in a timely manner per the policies set-forth by the Boston Red Sox.
- Be cognizant of International Scouting policies as dictated by MLB, make sure you are compliant with rules set forth by MLB and the Boston Red Sox.
- Help in coordination of Red Sox tryouts as needed.
- Maintain preference list of players scouted
- Create follows/reports on all players viewed: from “non-prospect” to elite.
- Update player biographical information and evaluations promptly through the scouting process.
- Participate in any professional development exercises as assigned by supervisors.
COMPETENCIES
- Ability to gather intel through one’s network, cultivate relationships, and connect with players, coaches, agents, and trainers from varying backgrounds.
- Familiar with necessary hardware, tools, and equipment to conduct player evaluations.
- An understanding of the landscape and context surrounding the International Acquisitions domain.
- Able to collect and decipher the information necessary to complete a full scouting process.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have a Driver’s License valid in the assigned area.
- Must have regular access to a car in the assigned area.
