Job Description
About the role:
The Area Head for EAMEA will be responsible for overseeing and driving the business operations, growth, and development across the area.
He/She will ensure the successful implementation of the company's strategic goals, fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders, and leading regional teams to achieve business objectives.
The Area Head of EAMEA is expected to manage a large and complex EAMEA P&L, developing and supporting brand awareness, customers' and key stakeholders' engagement, and growth of Takeda's EAMEA business to help drive profitability in the Area.
He/She are also expected to ensure the synergy of EAMEA strategy and business to GEM, GPD and global and the capability development of EAMEA's talents in line with the global standard.
How you will contribute:

  • Identify and capitalize on business opportunities to drive market share, revenue growth, and profitability.
  • Monitor regional market trends, competitor activities, and economic conditions to inform strategic decisions.
  • Lead business development initiatives to expand the company's footprint in the regions.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key clients, partners, and government entities.
  • Identify new markets, products, and services to enhance the company's portfolio.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations across the regions, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Implement best practices and processes to optimize operational performance.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations and company policies.
  • Develop and manage the regional budget, ensuring financial targets are met.
  • Conduct regular financial reviews and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Provide accurate and timely financial reports to executive leadership.
  • Build, mentor, and lead high-performing regional teams.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
  • Implement talent development programs to enhance skills and career growth.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with operating in diverse and volatile markets.
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to safeguard the company's interests.


Critical Functional Knowledge:

  • Demonstrated experience in leading a large/multi-country commercial operations or key functions, with a forward-looking perspective, flexible and adaptable to the local market dynamics.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing activity plan and resources allocation to support above- country-level initiatives (patient finding, advocacy, services, ATM/CSR, etc.) and launches.
  • Track record in owning and improving relationships with key stakeholders and customers, such as national or regional government health agencies, key payers.
  • Attracts, leads, develops, motivates and retains a diverse team and build a best-in-class organization to ensure optimal business performance.
  • Deep understanding of EAMEA regulatory landscape in order to support submission and registration across the area and ensure consistency and communication of global regulatory strategy for the assigned product from development to launch phase.

  • Direct impact to global P&L given the size of revenue contribution and high growth potential.

Critical Business Expertise:

  • Proven ability to lead and grow a P&L with a pipeline of innovative medicines in complex above-country markets with wide-ranging healthcare infrastructure.
  • Develops robust strategies and drive necessary changes for an above-country organization to lead in innovative care markets.


Communication Skills:

  • Excellent downwards communication skills to attracts, leads and motivates talents and align them with GEM, GPD and global strategy and vision.
  • Excellent upwards communication skills to: 1) Internally maintain a common understanding and synchronization in terms of strategy and vision between EAMEA and Global, and for cross-regional activities e.g., best-practice sharing. 2) Externally develop and maintain strong relationship and trust with key stakeholders and customers.

  • Application of digitalization in capability management, communication and synergy across countries and regions.

  • Strong financial understanding, managing Region-level P&L.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or equivalent knowledge experience, MBA preferred.
  • 10 - 15 years of progressive experience in business, sales in pharmaceutical industry
  • Strong strategic and analytical thinking.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven track record of driving business growth and operational excellence.
  • Ability to lead and motivate diverse teams across multiple locations.
  • Deep understanding of cultural, economic, and political dynamics in the regions.
