TEAM
Arene is a modern software platform that supports the creation, deployment and continuous improvement of software-defined vehicles. Arene consists of tooling, vehicle software, and a data platform to enable rapid development and reuse, while maintaining safety and security.
The Arene Software Production Line (Arene SPL) product is creating and automating code to car software pipelines to continuously build, test, and deliver software to the car. As the responsible software architect of the Software Production Line product, you will create tools and processes to enable safe, secure and automated delivery of production software to vehicles.
With a focus on CI, CD and automation, you will work closely with other teams to integrate and deliver automotive software, at scale. You will be responsible for improving software quality and agility through automation which will be used to create the next generation of automotive software.
You will report to the Head of Arene Architecture, but will be working closely with the Arene SPL team, to help them drive and implement your software architecture.
This role's workplace type is hybrid - you will work in the office at least 3 days per week.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR
You must be a technical expert with a background in build automation, software quality assurance and software development at scale.
As an architect, you will collaborate closely with tech leads, product managers, and engineers in the teams you support, while also aligning with Arene's Chief Engineer Office (other system engineers and architects) to ensure all teams in Arene follow the same processes and practices.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Adhere to and support the adoption of the System Engineering Management Process.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to collect & analyze software requirements.
- Create high-level product specifications and design documents.
- Define the architecture in collaboration with the engineers you support.
- Create POCs to reduce the risk of architecture decisions.
- Take part in the implementation of the chosen architecture with the engineers you support.
- Define "fitness functions" for your software product and systematically validate it against these.
- Guide and assist the development team throughout the software development lifecycle process.
- Drive consensus in the teams you support using your expertise, your tact, your objectivity, your strong communication skills and best engineering practices.
- Ensure that the team delivers high quality software.
- Ensure the final software product satisfies functional and non-functional requirements.
- Write, test, debug and optimize software.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- 10+ years of demonstrable experience with modern software development tooling, especially for C and C++
- Empathetic leader capable of understanding and supporting individual potential
- A capable technical leader who enables a culture that does not compromise on safety or security
- Desire to work in a multicultural teams and openness to various cultures
- Demonstrable experience working with modern software development practices
- Mindset for ownership, growth, and quality.
- Experience in software project management.
NICE TO HAVES:
- Experienced engineering practitioner in a commercial production environment
- Developing relevant modern software development tools, particularly for C++ compilers, libraries, runtimes, sanitizers, fuzzers, debuggers, linkers
- Contributing to open source projects and participating in standards bodies
- Japanese communication skills
- Knowledge of quality management systems, automotive industry engineering, and security-conscious software design and implementation
- Familiarity with ISO 26262, SOTIF, or other functional safety standards
- Capable of mentoring, coaching and growing teams of engineers.
- Experience describing software architectures in UML and SysML.
