D&E Department

The Development & Engineering (D&E) team drives the technology, innovation and new development of data center infrastructure across Vantage’s companywide portfolio.  D&E evaluates new sites, drives cost and scheduling in line with corporate goals and serves as subject matter experts across the entire project lifecycle from concept through commissioning.  The team collaborates with Sales, Operations and management along the way.  D&E also works hand in hand with the Construction team to come up with a vertically integrated design and ensures new and existing standards and designs are executed effectively.  One thing that distinguishes Vantage is that our technical staff are given the responsibility and authority to directly drive tangible results.  Our team can align long-term operational sustainability with value engineering and cost metrics to deliver products aligned with corporate goals.  This approach empowers each member of the team to drive high-impact decisions and results.

Position Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented architectural professional to support the schematic design of new data center products. This role involves close coordination with CSA and MEP subject matter experts to develop integrated design layouts that align with project requirements and industry best practices. Candidates should have a foundational understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and how they interface with architectural design. Familiarity with key standards such as NCARB, and energy codes is essential, along with working knowledge of building codes including IBC and NFPA.

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience and hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in architecture or architectural engineering. Experience working on multi-disciplinary teams is highly valued, as is proficiency in Revit for modeling and content creation. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to innovative, high-performance building designs in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. A proactive mindset and willingness to engage in both design and production tasks are key to success in this role.

Essential Job Functions

  • Lead BIM efforts for CSA initiatives at a global level.

  • Identify potential sustainable design features that minimize environmental impact, enhance energy efficiency and contribute towards the company’s net-zero goals

  • Assist with the development of architectural and structural standards across the global product line

  • Work closely with counterparts on the regional level to solicit feedback and improve global products

  • Work efficiently in Revit and other BIM software to create quick and efficient schematic designs for presentations

Duties

  • Assist in the development and review of global architectural standards, inclusive of but not limited to: Owners Performance Requirements, Design Guidelines, Interior and Exterior Guidelines, Campus Master Planning Standards, test-fit optimization

  • Assist in the modeling and exploration of new building systems (prefabrication and modularization)

  • Assist in the development of complete material and people paths through the datacenters in normal and emergency situations

  • Work closely with CSA subject matter experts to adapt products to meet data center and client needs

  • Participate in the onboarding and education of new employees and external partners to ensure understanding of the features and intent of the globally provided architectural standards

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Architecture, or equivalent, from an accredited university or college

  • 3+ years of experience in architectural design and construction required

  • 1-2 years of Data Center and/or mission critical experience is required

  • Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Excel, Word, rendering & modeling software

  • Working knowledge of building and fire codes ordinances
