Job Summary

Porch's goal is to be the partner that makes home ownership simple and convenient. As part of the Finance and Accounting shared services team, the AR Billing Accountant owns customer billing for complex, non-standardized contracts. You will work closely with U.S.-based account managers and operations teams to ensure customers are billed accurately and on time. Beyond billing, you will support month-end and quarter-end close and help maintain the controls that keep our accounting accurate and compliant.


What You Will Do As An AR Billing Accountant

  • Read and interpret customer contracts to determine correct billing treatment, rather than following a fixed template or standardized process
  • Prepare and issue customer billing, including intercompany credit card statement billing
  • Communicate directly with U.S.-based account managers on billing questions and contract terms
  • Perform month-end billing reconciliations
  • Partner with operations to resolve contract interpretation questions and relay accurate information back to customers
  • Support month-end and quarter-end close activities related to billing
  • Identify opportunities to improve billing processes as customer and contract dynamics evolve
  • Work independently, performing professional accounting activities related to general accounting
  • Control, monitor, and review accounts to ensure accuracy, proper documentation, and compliance with all pertinent procedures and regulations
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly journal entries and account reconciliations as assigned
  • Support management with ad hoc requests
  • Partner with managers and internal teams to maintain processes and controls related to assigned areas of work
  • Ensure compliance with all internal policies, relevant regulations, and accounting principles

What You Will Bring As An AR Billing Accountant

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or equivalent experience in a corporate accounting environment
  • 2+ years of experience in a corporate accounting or billing role; more experience preferred
  • General understanding of accounting fundamentals (accrual vs. cash basis, payables)
  • Experience with non-standardized or complex billing, including reading and interpreting contracts, is strongly preferred
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Proven experience working with US-based business teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with NetSuite and FloQast, or a comparable large ERP (SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, Microsoft Dynamics) or BlackLine, is a plus
  • CPA, CA, or ACCA is a plus but not required
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic, virtual environment
  • Working Hours: 8 Hours (Excluding breaks) with 4 Core US Hours Overlap (7:30pm - 11:30pm IST) and 4 flexible hours (IST)
  • Workspace: A quiet space to work, an internet connection of at least 30 Mbps download | 10 Mbps upload

Pay Range*: 1,068,800 - 1,496,300 INR annually
