This role is based in either Beijing or Shanghai and includes approximately 10% travel. The Director will report directly to the Vice President, Commercial Strategy, APSO, and will lead a high-performing team, including two New Product Planning Associate Directors, with a strong emphasis on talent development and performance excellence.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership: Lead the development and execution of New Product Planning strategies for the China market, with 90% focus on Immunology, Autoantibody, Neuroscience, and PH therapeutic areas.
Team Management: Directly manage and develop two New Product Planning Associate Directors. Foster a culture of high performance, continuous learning, and professional growth.
Market Analysis: Oversee in-depth market assessments, competitive landscape analysis, and opportunity identification to support robust business cases for new product launches.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work collaboratively with Commercial, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, and Global NPP teams to align China’s NPP strategies with global objectives and local market realities.
Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with internal and external stakeholders to gather insights, validate assumptions, and ensure successful product planning and launch readiness.
Talent Development: Drive the growth and development of direct reports, implementing best-in-class talent management and succession planning practices.
Performance Management: Set clear objectives, monitor progress, and ensure delivery of key milestones and business outcomes within set timelines and budgets.
Reporting & Communication: Provide regular updates and strategic recommendations to the Vice President, Commercial Strategy, APSO, and other senior leaders.
Travel: Approximately 20% travel within China and occasionally internationally as required.
Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Business, or related field; advanced degree (MBA, MS, PhD) preferred.
Minimum 10 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, with significant exposure to New Product Planning and commercial strategy in China.
Proven leadership experience managing teams and developing talent.
Strong knowledge of Immunology, Autoantibody, Neuroscience, and PH therapeutic areas in the China market.
Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and influence at all levels of the organisation.
Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and communication skills.
Fluent in Mandarin and English (spoken and written).
Based in Beijing or Shanghai, with ability to travel as needed (approx. 10%).
