Healthworks Medical is currently seeking an experienced Occuaptional Health Nurse Practiitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team at the Newport News Nuclear (N3B) BWXT Los Alamos project. The ideal candidate will provide advanced occupational health care to our employees, focusing on injury prevention, treatment of work related injuries and illnesses, health promotion, and compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.

  • Perform occupational medicine evaluations, including pre-placement, surveillance, return-to-work, fitness-for-duty, and regulatory medical examinations.
  • Conduct annual medical surveillance examinations for employees working in industrial and nuclear-related environments, ensuring compliance with applicable client, regulatory, and occupational health requirements.
  • Evaluate and manage work-related injuries and illnesses, including treatment, follow-up care, work restrictions, and return-to-work determinations.
  • Assess employees' ability to safely perform essential job functions and provide recommendations regarding medical fitness for duty.
  • Review medical histories, diagnostic studies, laboratory results, and specialty consultation reports to support occupational health decision-making.
  • Provide episodic care for minor acute illnesses and injuries presenting to the occupational health clinic.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation in accordance with clinic, client, regulatory, and workers' compensation requirements.
  • Collaborate with clinic staff, employers, safety personnel, and consulting specialists to coordinate employee medical care and case management.
  • Educate employees regarding occupational health risks, medical surveillance findings, preventive health measures, and wellness initiatives.
  • Participate in medical emergency preparedness activities and provide clinical support during workplace emergencies when required.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable occupational health regulations, evidence-based medical practices, and client-specific medical standards.
  • Assist in the development and continuous improvement of occupational health protocols, medical surveillance programs, and clinic procedures.
Qualifications
  • Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license in the state of employment.
  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
  • National certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant and current DEA registration (if applicable).
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of clinical experience in Occupational Medicine, Urgent Care, Emergency Medicine, Family Practice, Internal Medicine, or a related clinical setting preferred.
  • Experience performing occupational health evaluations, return-to-work assessments, surveillance examinations, and fitness-for-duty evaluations preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, occupational health principles, workers' compensation processes, and regulatory medical surveillance programs preferred.
  • Ability to evaluate medical fitness for work and provide appropriate work restrictions and return-to-work recommendations.
  • Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and documentation skills with the ability to make independent evidence-based medical decisions.
  • Experience reviewing laboratory studies, diagnostic testing, and specialty consultation reports.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with employees, management, safety personnel, and healthcare providers.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • DOT Medical Examiner certification, or willingness to obtain certification within a specified timeframe, preferred.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary occupational health team.

Skills Required
